Re: XD Card wants to re formatted
As long as the xD card was not formatted it is possible to recover the images that were accidently erased or unable to be downloaded to a computer. You can go to the following website link and download an image recovery software program that is free of charge. http://www.z-a-recovery.com/ You want to download a program called Zero Assumption Recovery. It is a very simple program to use and people have had much success in recovering lost images.

If you like the camera and XD cards then I would use the USB cable to download the photos from the camera. When you plug the USB cale into the camera and then into the computer, the computer should recognize the camera and set it up as another disk drive. Copy or move the pictures from the card to your Photo location. Use the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray to disconnect the camera and your done. The camera can format the XD card and the computer can read it through the camera.
Just had the same issue today. The Olympus Helpdesk told me that the fact I had printed one of the picture from the Xd card in directly inserting the card in the printer slot for Xd created the problem....
The guy from the Helpdesk strongly recommended to transfer the pictures from the camera to the computer exclusively using the USB cable of the camera.
In the end I have saved all my 505 pictures in using the Smart Recovery from PC Inspector but why the hell this problem only happens with Xd cards?
the C770 Ultra Zoom has the ability to use cards larger than 512MB and Type M cards but only for still photos. I tried to use a 1GB card and Type M cards with the same problem "Picture Error". Large videos (over 30 seconds or so) or videos utilizing zoom inevitably caused extremely long time to write the file to the card or failed in the process. The camera is only rated for up to 512MB card from the factory. firstname.lastname@example.org if you have other questions...hope this helps
