My laptop is able to connect to a external monitor, i'm not sure if it is the lcd inverter or the lcd?

- I'm sorry, it works perfect on an external monitor, but The LCD on the laptop lights up black and has white vertical lines down it.Clarification Request

Are you talking about the Laptop screen or an external monitor?
it is very likely to be the LCD itself to cause the problem.

It is the C-Board Panel Attached to the Display Panel And Is Integrated into the Screen .. You will need a screen replacement..
