Problem with 2wire (1000-000057-000) Modem

2wire 2701HGV-W Gateway wi-fi modem

How do I connect a printer to this modem so that I can communicate with it from my computers wirelessly via the wi-fi modem?

    • You can connect your printer in two ways:


      1. via USB

      2. via Ethernet
      These options are depending on what kind of printer you are using.

    • i would like to know how to connect a brother mfc260c to the 2 wire modem to use as a network printer. it has a usb conection on it

Best Solution

The 8200 by itself does not have networking capability.
This means that you cannot connect it directly to your router and give it an IP address, so others can connect to it.

The good thing is, that this printer is listed on the list for compatibility for upgrade with the wireless network kit (see here). The bad thing is - this kit costs about 70$ (see here).

A solution which does not cost anything, is to share the printer from your computer with the other computers. The downside is that the machine to which the printer is connected has to be running in order to let the others print.

Sorry - but there is no simple (plug & pray) solution.
