Question about Tomtom One XL GPS Receiver
I was leaving for work, pulled out the driveway, cut on my gps, as it started it counts down how long it been since signal was lost , 10 sec, 20 sec, usually kicks in after that. Not this time. It got up to about 2 min and then said searching for valid gps signal. Been that way about 4 days. Got it for christmas and can't find my manual.
The same thing happened to my tomtom and this is how I resolved it. I turned the tomtom off and when I turned it on I held the power button; the screen turned completely green and when I removed the car adaptor the screen went blank. When I turned it back on it found the satellites in under a minute.

Using the Tom Tom HOME download Updates which includes QuickFix which provides information as to which satellites are available at that moment. Without that it can take quite a long time for the Satnav to work out how the decode the signals as it has no idea what satellites are available and has to go through a long list of guesses before it gets lucky.
