Running Setup.exe My CD drive funtions fine when playing music or watching a video. However, when I get a CD with software that I want to load It keeps cycling. Sometimes it comes up with 'F:Setup.exe is not a valid Win 32 application. If I copy the CD from a computer that recognizes the Setup onto a memory stick and then load it onto my computer, all goes well. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom

YouTube videos load all the way, and the sound plays just fine and doesn't chop...but the video is very choppy. I even switched the video to the lowest playback format. Still choppy.

Hello,

Based on the information provided, it seems that the issue might be related to the Video driver.
You may download the video driver from the below link and then try installing it:

Hope this helps..

How to disable Autoplay of Audio CDs and USB Drives in windows

0b05cdf.png

All recent versions of widows contain features called AutoPlay and AutoRun. AutoPlay lets you choose which program to use to start different kinds of media, such as music CDs, or CDs or DVDs containing photos. For example, the first time you try to play a music CD, AutoPlay asks which media player you want to use, if you have more than one installed on your computer. You can change AutoPlay settings for each media type.Autorun is the technology used to start many programs or enhanced content (such as videos on a music CD) automatically when you insert a CD or USB drives into your computer. This is different from AutoPlay, but the result are the same, when inserted, the CD or USB drive starts automatically, using a particular program. Autorun is incorporated into the media types that use it, and you can't modify it.
When a disc is inserted or a drive is connected to your computer, Windows looks in the root directory of the disc or drive for a file named autorun.inf. If found, Windows executes the instructions in that file. ( whether it be start the music or install the virus.)
For example, an autorun.inf file on a CD might contain a line that reads open=setup.exe. This tells your computer to launch a setup program as soon as the CD is inserted into the drive

Removable USB/thumb drives use the Autorun feature to load files when the drives are plugged into the USB port. Malware exploits the Autorun feature to spread from thumb drive to PC. Disable the autorun feature to prevent malware from spreading.

For XP users:

1.Click Start and then click Run. Type gpedit.msc and click OK. The Group Policy window will open.

Hi, I am having sony vaio laptop VGN N365E since last 3years and found good. today i tried to use acer mobile manual cd but its not showing in my cd drive though some other games cd are working...

just check what is the drive letter for your CD drive say X. click on start button then click on run and in the run command box type cmd and hit enter when the black window popsup type whatever drive letter you came to know and hit enter if it says retry abort then you shall know that the cd is corrupt or it is blank. if it goes to that drive letter then type dir and hit enter. if you see setup.exe in the list then type setup.exe and hit enter.

My CD ROM's Auto-load/Auto-exe is not working. I put in CD software and it doesn't load it. I put in a DVD movie and it doesn't auto-play.

Enabling AutoPlay in Windows XPEnable through Windows Explorer
  1. Open My Computer or Explorer
  2. Right-click the CD-ROM drive or other drive and click Properties.
  3. Click the AutoPlay tab. Within this section you will be able to specify all Windows AutoPlay features.

When I Play Music through Winamp/Media Player it

That is unusual - pressing in case should not effect play - not like a tape drive would.
Are you playing from CD or Hard-drive?
If Cd - try copy music to hard-drive and see how it plays - if ok - then something may be rubbing on CD in CD-Player? But that would give read errors. Have to remove CD Player and clean it.

Flash drive isn't being recognized need to back up

Hello,

Regarding on your problem, in windows xp and up version of windows operating system, plug and play device is easy and no need to install its drivers manually cause the computer will automatically install its drivers. But in the case of Windows 98 you have to install your USB Driver manually in order to be recognize by the system. So my recommendation please insert the CD driver or load the driver of your USB and run the setup.exe to install the USB Driver.

Thanks

My cd drive doesn't recognise the disk inserted

Can you see the information on the CD/DVD from Windows Explorer? (NOT Internet Explorer). Some CD's/DVD's just won't recognize correctly from Auto Play. If you can see what's on the disk (in Windows Explorer) try double clicking the Setup.exe or Run.exe from there and see if it loads. I have the same problem on some of mine.

Music cd's are not recognized by my computers D: drive

Are you sure that you have a cd drive? It could be that it is only a dvd drive. It could also be that the cd has a scratch or is unreadable.

CD drive won't read cd's

If you have any windows cd sent by Dell together with your system when you first purchased it, try booting on it by doing this---> Press F12 as soon as you see the Dell Logo, then select onboard/CD Rom or anything that says CD/DVD on the option by pressing enter. If you're being asked, press any key to continue -> Press spacebar immediately. This will load to the window setup. If you have reached the menu option that says:  1. Press Enter to install Windows 2. Press R for Recovery 3. Press F3 to quit

Press Enter to enter the setup. Then if you were able to reach the license agreement asking  you to press F8, that means that your CD rom drive is working as designed. I can assume that the reason why the CD rom drive is not reading any media is because of a possible filter issue on the registry.
Let me know first if the steps I have provided you worked. Good Luck!
