Question about Televison & Video

My 32" LCD picture does not include print messages at base of picture. effect is that picture seems to need about one or two more inches of height dimension to include these details is this an adjustment problem and if so will adjustment cause figures in the screen to be "stumpy"? particularly irritating when watching cricket.

i followed your advice with no . worthwhile result. Tried the 4:3 setting which narrowed the picture and provided the subtitles. BUT There is a black band down each side of the picture about 2" wide each side...thus narrowing the picture.
I am rapidly forming the view that this is endemic and beyond solution.
I set the thing to "auto format" which certainly filled the screen with picture...but tends to become more "squat".
70% of the time I am satisfied...but the subtitles are only viewable in the 4:3 settiing......regards......Keith Fitzgerald.

Hi,
It sounds like you may have the TV in a mode that tries to fit the image to the screen. For example mine has a mode called "wide fit" that exhibits the same characteristics that you describe.

I don't see your make or model, so I can't give you specific instructions, but have a look a your remote and look for a button that may say "picture size" or something similar.

Sometimes the setting is also found in the TV's settings menus.

If you reply with your TV's make and model, then I may be able to help you locate the right place to look.

Thanks!

I see that the problem is with the picture being a bit zoomed so as to cutting off the print messages.. could you please provide the make n model number... anyways all remote controls have the feature that lets the user set the picture size so I'd suggest you try using that too... make n model number would be really helpful

Go to zoom option on the remote control, it most likely was adjusted without your knowledge.

How do we remove the base stand from the lcd-32xr8da so we can wall mount it

There are 4 screws connecting the base to the tv on the 40xbr. didnt check to see if its the same with the 32 inch. the base connects to the tv (on the bigger one) via two prongs both with 2 screws in it, look for the screws and you're all set.

Remove base from TV

Remove 4 screws holding the vertical metal bracket in place. These are located just above the bottom of the rear centre of the TV. The bracket will then slide out.

You might find it easier to remove the footplate first. Simply remove all screws from the bottom of the base. The metal plate and the plastic shield will then detach.

32 inch rca color

If this is a 32 inch TV then it is a standard picture tube set. If the colors have suddenly gone out of whack, and the set has not been dropped or had any large magnets near it recently, it means that the degaussing thermistor has come loose from its legs. This is very common in the RCA regular picture tube sets. If you look in the back of the set you will see a large black coil of wire wrapped around the edges of the picture tube, with 2 white wires going down to a jack on the main PC board. Right next to that jack is the degaussing thermistor, which looks like a small silver disc, like a nickle, with 2 legs loosely soldered to its sides. One or both of those legs are probably loose, and if you are very careful you can solder those legs back onto the thermistor. If you do not have experience soldering small parts, allow a qualified tech to handle it for you.
