Re: Typing on my blackberry
It sounds like you have alt or sym function on which is turning your inputs into numbers and symbols. You will have a logo in the upper right hand corner showing you which feature is activated. Turn it off.If you are unsure what I am referring to in turn turn press ALT twice and watch the logo in the upper corner, turn it off and do the same with SYM. You should be able to use your keyboard as normal now.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

I recently plugged in my blackberry via USB to my computer and received a request to enter my password. If the password was incorrect 10 times then my blackberry would automatically wipe the data.
I had placed a security code to access my blackberry such as: 4404 When I tried typing this code on the BB desktop manager..on my computer. The code was not accepted. i tried over an over, until i realized the blackberrys number key also has a letter key.
Thus instead of typing the numbers 4404 on my computer, i typed the equivalent letter on the 4 key. if 4 is G then i typed gg0g
BlackBerry Pearl 8100 Can be done without a sim card inserted To Unlock:
1 - While on the home screen, click the “blackberry key” on keyboard, then select “options”.
2 - Choose “Advanced Options”.
3 - Select “Sim Card”
4 - There is no area to type these letters, you just type them as instructed. No need to hit keys twice to get a letter either. Type m e p p d to display the first five levels of SIM locking. Most companies use network locking so the Network should display Active. All other states should display Disabled ( you will not see text appear on screen while typing )
5 - Type m e p p 2 to display the dialog box asking for the unlock code (Press the Alt + 2 key to get the number 2) ( you will not see text appear on screen while typing )
6 - Input the SIM Unlock code
7 - Press in the trackball in once
Your phone is unlocked
