To shut off "covers compulsory" Hit (Mode) then (Program 3), (2) Clerk, (5) Range, (1) Clerk Control, then look for No. of covers compulsory and change from YES to NO by highlighting and hit yes or tapping twice.
You can use an "open 2" button if you like also. I will post both ways in forum @ www.casiohelp.com

Can I hard reset my Casio QT-6000?

If you are going to reset a 6000, you will have a lot of re-programming to do as it will not work until some programming is re-entered. There are several manuals that you should have before you start as Casio split their larger manuals into multiples covering different areas of programming and operation. I don't carry any info for the 6000 since I never sold them. There is a site that has everything you'll need:

Good luck

Need to calibrate screen

This should not be necessary during normal use. It is more likely that the touch panel has a fault or a scratch/ hole in it causing failure. Firstly, check that there isn't a build up of filth at the bottom of the touch panel which can interfere. 90 percent of the time it is a failing touch panel, sorry :(
