Question about IBM ThinkPad T40 2373 Notebook

Wharfedale MP3 player won't install to IBM Thinkpad

The MP3 player is connected to USB port, and I'm getting the message "Found New Hardware MTP Device" but nothing more is happening. Player is not even charging. Message won't go away. "Install new hardware" from Control Panel tells me it's already busy. This has continued for 3 days!

Thanks for rapid response, leecom72. The operating system is XP

No software came with this MP3 player. I just plugged it in with the USB cable supplied.
I have a second minor problem now, with FixYa itself - messages appear in Outlook Express with blank space where the link obviously should be. This happens with only one other source in my address book [Serif software sales] and I've never got to the bottom of it.

I can't get to the hardware wizard because it is already busy - presumably this is linked to the "found new hardware" message which will not go away, even when the player is disconnected from the laptop.

Hi am trying to connect it with my pc but its asking new hardware found "mtp device driver" but not installing just poping up againg and again not connecting with pc

You don't need any driver software, if your pc has windows xp sp2 or later and Windows Media Player 11.
If you have problem with your device follow this steps:
1. Connect the player to the computer.
2. From the computer, select start - Control Panel - Performance and Maintenance - System. "System Properties" is displayed.
3. Select Hardware tab, and open Device manager.
4. Open Universal Serial Bus controllers, and select USB Mass Storage Device or WALKMAN NWZ-XXXXX.
5. Select Action - Update Driver ... from the menu bar. "Welcome to the Hardware Update Wizard" is displayed.
6. A dialog on Windows Update connection will be displayed. Select No, not this time., followed by Next.
7. Select Install from a list or specific location [Advanced], followed by Next for the hardware install method.
8. Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install., followed by Next for the search and install option.
9. Check Show compatible hardware, and then select MTP Device* in the model list, followed by Next. The device driver is installed.
10. "Completing the Hardware Update Wizard" message is displayed, and confirm "MTP Device" message. Click Finish.

Good luck!

Accidentally deleted everything on sansa e250 computer can't see device.

Hi there

I can understand issue. When you say the device is not detected. Then it could be an issue with the system files would have got deleted because of the format.

To fix this issue, i would recommend you to keep the device in MTP mode ( Menu->Settings->USB->MTP).
Connect the device to the computer.
It will give the message as Found New Hardware.
Go ahead and install the MTP drivers by following on screen instruction.
Then Unplug the device.
Restart the computer.
Connect the device.
Now we are offset and device will be detected.
IF still you have issue kindly revert..... Good luck

I put the usb port in the computer and it will say the computer has found new hardware and for me to install it when i do it will say hardware can't install. what do i do?

Selecting or switching automatically MTP < > MSC
Connecting the player before a media software program is installed, the player will connect as a flash drive also called removable disk in MSC mode.
There are 2 settings for connection mode in the player, MTP and MSC.
See page 36 of the manual for more information and how to set the USB mode:
http://www.cobyusa.com/files/manuals/MP705_MN.pdf

USB mode MTP
Install Windows Media Player 11 for MTP connection to the computer.
When needing a media player update from Microsoft see:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/default.mspx

USB mode MSC
When you experience next making connection:
Connecting the device to the computer Wizard found new hardware pops up.
Only this time the Windows update searching for software will not work on automatic routine:
ending up with "Cannot Install this Hardware".

Solution:
Manual performing the wizard, setting the device to USB connection type:
1. Can Windows connect to Windows Update to search for software ?
Select "No, not this time".
[Next]
2. If your hardware came with an installation CD, or floppy disk, insert it now.
Select "Install from a list or specific location(Advanced)."
[Next]
3. Please use your search and installations options.
Select "Don't search I will choose the driver to install."
[Next]
4. Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware.
Select "USB Mass Storage Device."
[Finish]

Note: when using MSC mode always safely remove hardware, the players' removable disk. The icon in the right corner of the task bar.

Sony nwz-b135f problem

MTP problem SOLVED!!!!! I followed the steps and finally I reached to a step where it shows “MTP device Problem......” I tried many times with different USB ports, but the same problem happened.

Fully frustrated, I finally did what the whole world does, GOOGLE my problem. Google showed me a lot of posts but nothing could solve my problem. Microsoft was providing the MTP driver, but only after a lot of authentication and procedure, which I was not going to follow….

After repeatedly experimenting by inserting my MP3 player, I got the solution!! It is as follows:

1) Insert your music player in the USB port. You will get a Hardware Installation wizard by XP.
2) Select, “No, Not this time” and click next.

3) Select “Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)”.

4) Select “Don’t search. I will search the driver to install”.

5) Select “USB Mass Storage Device” and then click "Next"

7) Wow!! Now you are done!!!
