Question about Mozilla Firefox
Recently, my Firefox updated to 3.0.6. Since then my Screengrab add-on hasn't worked reliably, the find function doesn't always work either, and I am completely unable to attach documents to emails I send using Gmail (I am still able to do this if I use IE).
So I want to go back to 3.0.4. How do I go about doing this, and what do I have to do to ensure that my bookmarks, add-ons, etc transfer over?
before downgrading, which is not really recommended being that the latest version is usually more secure than the older ones, check to be sure that you have updated all your addons after upgrading. best to do this regularly if you don't already.
you may want to have a look here: Firefox 3.0.6 Release notes
there you will find info on Uninstalling Firefox, which explains how to do it as well as letting you know that your profile settings won't be deleted, it also tells you where to find these files on your system.
there is also a category for 'known issues' but i didn't notice anything in there about the e-mail attatchment problem you're having... this may be due to one of your addons or a conflict between two or more of them... a good way to figure out if this is the case is to launch firefox insafemode (you don't have to change any of your settings permanently)and go to your g-mail account to see how things are working there... also try the find function while you're in safemode. there's more info on this in the 'troubleshooting' section.
if you're still having trouble with one or both of these, you may want to make a bug report to firefox. if it's all fine, then it's most likely an add-on problem, in which case...
...you'll want to disable all your addons and then add them back in one at a time... since Screengrab is giving you trouble, i'd put that back first and test your g-mail and your find feature. and as you enable other addons, see how Screegrab and the rest behaves until you find the one that id causing you trouble.
additionally, in the case of Screengrabber, you may want to go to the firefox addonpage and see if the developer or any users have made notes about bugsor incompatibilities with the FF upgrade or other addons, or to the devloper's support page/forum.
if you still want to go back to an older version of firefox... you can find all the previous releases here:
you'll have to uninstall the curent version and then install the older one into the same folder. you should have all your settings back again once you do, but do make a backup of everything before uninstalling just to be sure.
if you need to reinstall any or all of your extensions, you should be able to do this by pointing the installer to the local folder, then be sure that you have them all up-to-date.
let me know if any or all of this works for you, or if you need more help.
