The deck opens and makes the beeping noise that it usually did, it was just playing music on the last mode that i had it on, but i pressed the reset button and the screen now is just blank, plays no music and i would really like to get it working again...i heard theres 2 buttons you might have to push to reboot or something! PLEASE HELP :) i would really like my music back! :)
Re: The deck opens buts doesnt play music and the screen...
I have the same deck and a very similar problem. Mine was stuck in the out position and would beep and move a little but there was no lights or music. I called Alpine and they told me that sometimes the inner sleeve around the deck will pinch the unit a little. I took my unit out of the dash and sure enough the plastic face plate came loose and moved about 1/32 of an inch when I slide it back in place and turned the power back on it worked perfectly. Hope this helps.

the beeping can be turned off for AUX to have sound u need to have something hooked to it if there is no sound it could be blown or incorrectly connected speakers or even a blown fuse also try RESETTING the unit
check speakers for a short protect means one of the speakers are shorting so check all the connections on speakers or if you have a multimeter put the black to ground and put it on contanuity and check from the plug at the unit and it will beep if one is shorting then you know which one to check instead of pulling your whole car apart:)
when you disconnect it from cables, it resets. But i believe that is not the problem. Check speaker cables. I think you have problem with internal power amps. They have thermal and current protection. look for short circuits on speakers or speaker cables.
mine does this too, I have the deck on my boat and on land the deck cuts out when a bass line hits or loud music comes in, cuts out at about 20 on the volume level, however, when on the water and the motor is running, my voltage is up to 14 vdc or so.. At this point, I can crank the deck up to 30-37, and it will scream , doesnt cut out or lose power just rocks. I have heard that kenwood decks are competition stereos and require 14-16vdc, but I have never found any proof of this. One thing you can do is order a battery from summitracing.com that runs higher than 12vdc. But then again im just speculating
The Alpine cda-7842 was not intended to play burned cd's and Mp3's. I don't recemmend you play anything but store bought cd's. I belive that the laser can be damaged by playing Mp3's and they sometimes make weird noises because of the laser seeking erratically, due to the year that cda-7842 was manufactered.
yes yes yes clean it if that dont work i would just say "sorry" go with a diffrent brand player. cuz my dad has had 3 or 4 of them and i had 2 of them and they never lasted of held up. they have all fried to easy. i dont trust sony car equipment.
ok I had this happen before
Try unplugging the possitvive battery from your car let sit for 5min or open the doors and turn the key making sure that your car is completly dead. then put the possitive wire back on.
this will reset the deck and make sure you also have the setting s correct I thin it called I tunes is set to on in the menu opptions
