How do I get info out of a dead laptop inspiron 1150?
Inspiron 1150 old much loved lap top has some serious problems. It starts, but fails to get through its opening sequence and cuts out when the hard drive wants to start with a 'click'.
I have been told it is a main frame problem, will cost more to mend than it is worth.
I need to get the info off the hard disk. Documents, photographs etc
I've been shown how to unscrew the hard drive... then, what the hell do I do next?
I need another laptop? or pc? to plug old hard drive into make a copy?
Am stuck here. Advice much appreciated

Check to see if you have the machine switched out to a stand alone monitor. This is a feature on many lap tops that lets you re-direct the signal out to a larger monitor, or if your monitor fails you can display the computer info on another screen. This feature is engaged by holding down the Fn key and tapping teither the F4, or F6 key on many lap tops. This feature can be toggled by both displaying at the same time or switched to the stand alone or the Lap top.
The other cause is that the machine has malfunctioned usually because of the CPU failure and there is nothing to boot the machine up.
Hi, you can perform a system restore by accessing safe mode by pressing the ESC button during bootup. Restore system to a time before the problem began. You will need to perform a full virus scan straight after normal bootup is achieved. Hope this helps
The battery might be dead. The first thing to check is the power supply. If the battery is dead, it needs to be plugged into the transformer, but if the transformer is not putting out the required voltage (somewhere around 18V.) then it won't start.
simple there might be settings problem . go to the network places icon in start bar and do a right click then choose Diagnose and repair..then it will works but if it says that there is a device problem then might be your router is not working correctly
1.yes this can be fixed.
2.buy a laptop hard drive caddy the ide not sata to gain access to info. you'll need to open the hard tray remove drive place it in the caddy connect ythe caddy to desktop or laptop. start the desktop/laptop go to my computer the pc will give your caddy a drive letter maybe g or e copy your info from that location to disc or local drive.
3.its not a virus. motherboard issue
It is one of three things usually Bad cable at the hinge, Failed inverter board, or failed backlight. Probably inverter. Not to difficult to repair. Check cable first because it is inexpensive and easy. Check the inverter and replace if needed . Sometimes you can buy one used cheap with a bad motherboard and swap the top.
