Question about NorStar Meridian M7310 Phone

Multi line system and phone still rings while I'm on another line

When I am on one line the receptionist can still ring another line through to my phone. It's annoying because while the phone is ringing I can't hear the person I'm already talking to on the other line. Can I somehow make the phone tell the operator that I am busy or on another line or simply not allow calls to go through when I'm on the other line? It's driving me crazy!!

:)

Damn it! She doesn't seem to notice when I'm on the phone. I've told her not to transfer calls to me when my line is lit up but I think she's four cans short of a six pack.

    Thanks for the response though!

That would work. I don't want ALL my calls directed to voicemail though. Just when I'm on the phone.

    Hi Courtney,

I may have a solution for you then...

There are options ~ if you have voicemail; we can direct all call transfers to voicemail, if you are busy on the phone -or- want someone else to answer your calls when you are busy.

If you want, I can direct you on how to make this change.

Ok, do you know how to get into programming of the system?

-> Feature **266344
-> Password: 266344 (this is the default password)

-> TERMINALS&SETS press enter and put in your Extension Number (DN)
-> you'll see LINE ACCESS press next to CAPABILITIES and enter
-> you'll see FWD NO ANSWER press next to FWD ON BUSY... and enter
-> press CHANGE and put in the extension or huntgroup that you want to forward to.
-> hit next after putting in the extension or huntgroup to save and hit RLS to back out of programming.

Voila, now when you are talking (busy) on phone, the calls will forward to the person you just typed in.
If you do not answer your calls, it will still go to your voicemail.

Courtney,

Unfortunately if the receptionist is using priority call (f69) there's not much you can do. Priority call is an administrator programmed function that overrides when your on a call and when the set is in do not disturb. Maybe bribing the receptionist might be in order.

I work for a small non-profit organization and we have a Lucent phone system - the problem is that when ANY call comes in on the mail line - it rings on everyone's phone. How can I fix this so that it...

Changing ringing on a Partner system is done on either ext 10 or 11.
At one of those ext's press the feature key and "00"
Next press the left hand intercom twice
The display should say system programming

Press the right hand intercom once. The display should say Centralized Programming2_bing.gif.

Enter in the extension number that you want to program.

Press the line that you want to ring.
A solid light on the line means immediate ringing
A slow flashing light means delayed ringing (meaning the phone will wait 3 rings before starting to ring.)
A fast flashing light means no ringing.

When finished with that station press the right hand intercom and enter in the next extension to program and set ringing accordingly.

Press feature "00" to logout

How do I set phone to ring at my extention?

Partner, all releases.
Examples
Receptionist Call Routing. If you want calls to be answered by the receptionist first, set the lines at the receptionist’s extension to Immediate Ring and the lines at the users’ extensions to No Ring. (This is the factory setting)
Receptionist Backup. If you want all calls on a line to ring directly at users’ extensions -with the receptionist providing backup -set the line at the users’ extensions to Immediate Ring. Then set the line (or lines) at the receptionist’s extension to Delayed Ring. An incoming call that is not answered by a user within 20 seconds will also ring at the receptionist’s extension.
Programming
To change the way outside lines or pools ring at an extension:
  1. Press [ Feature ] [ 0 ] [ 0 ] [ System Program ] [ System Program ] [ Central Tel Program ].
  2. Enter the number of the extension to be programmed for Line Ringing. The green lights next to the line or pool buttons on the phone show the current Line Ringing settings for all lines assigned to the extension. (If a line is not assigned to a button, the green light next to the button is off.) The following ringing options can be shown by the green light next to the line button.
    • Immediate Ring - on steady
    • Delayed Ring - flashes slowly
    • No Ring - flutters quickly
  3. To change Line Ringing for any line, press the line or pool button until the button light shows the correct setting (the setting for the currently selected line or pool also appears on the display).
  4. Continue programming or exit programming mode.

You could have a CICS, and MICS or a Nortel BCM. Which do you have?

You will need to access admin programming, do you know how?

How do I change the user name on my KX-T7433 phone?

You need to find the receptionist or manager's phone. Press PROGRAM and dial **1234 that puts you into programming.
Now dial 004 and press the button above SP PHONE. Wow! It ought to say Jack 01-1 and Operator or the name of your receptionist.

If all the above works, I guess you'll have to post back for the next instruction, or try the FWD and CONF button for steps to programming. Nothing changes until you press STORE.

Additional User Stations not Ringing

You would need to determine which NEC phone system you have and obtain a programming manual for the phone system. Your phone could be used on different NEC phone systems that program differently. Phones only have user guides that explain how to use the features.

You can set up your system with Night Ring and have different ringing rules when the system is put in night ring mode. It sounds like this is what you are looking for.
