Question about HP Color LaserJet 4550 Printer
My HP 4550 color laserjet will not print graphics, or anything else correctly. It will print a document from wordpad. If I make a drawing on paint it will print a black square over most of the page but you can see a bit of the drawing sticking out (in the correct color) It will not print a test page unless I use the control panel. All control panel pages print correctly. I had unhooked it and used an adapter to turn it into a USB printer so I could attach it to a new print server so I could print off of a VISTA computer. Didn't work. I bought a new printer and use that on the Vista computer, but now I cant get the old printer to work again. I have plugged it directly into the computer and it still will not print correctly.
This printer will work with Vista. I use the driver that Vista provides with the standard HP internal network card and it works fine. Try putting your network card back in and undoing the USB adapter changes. Then just go in and add it back with the "Add Printer" wizard.
My compliments on the 4550, though. It's a great printer. A bit slow compared to what's out there new, but a workhorse that will last nearly forever.
