No the drum will not fix it. I own three of these machines and all of them produced the same result. Even after changing drums and cartridges still no effect. The worked like this right out of the box.

I read the it is a side effect of LED technology, especially with cardstock and glossy paper.

I got so frustrated I installed a Konica Minolta Magicolor 7450 II. Man very clean prints, amazing print quality, takes 12pt glossy card stock and prints banners 12" x 47"

The problem your having is a spacer motor. It's located under the carriage that holds the ribbon/printhead. The part number is 56513701. Available at Seattle Platen - Dale 1800-221-2388.

Here's a free copy of the Okidata 320T service manual that will walk you through testing and verfying before ordering the replacement part.

If this helped you, please hit me up with a FIXYA. Thanks.

Oki C5800 prints magenta streaks

Streaks can be caused by a number of things
The fuser
The ETB
The toner cartridge
The firmware
The printer needs a cleaning.
The slot in the printer.
Incorrect Media.

Try cleaning the printer, use a lint-free cloth for the ETB, DO NOT touch the belt with your fingers, the oil from fingers will often make things worse.
Always use a lint-free cloth, if you ever encounter dirt inside the printer, dampen the cloth.

Calibrate the printer.
From the printer's control panel menu
Configure Device-> Print Quality-> Calibrate now.
(Press the Checkmark key to advance through menus)

An online manual here: http://my.okidata.com/PP-ML320.nsf?opendatabase There is probably a top of form setting which needs to be checked & corrected. I assume you've checked tab/margin settings in your software & printer setup?
