Hello there!! thanks for using!

You know what, I had the same problem couple of months ago. But I suggest that you should enter manually the network settings for the WLAN internet connection.

You have a pretty common configuration and there's good and bad news. The good news is that yes, you can definitely get your Sony PSP onto the Internet with the setup you have. The bad news is that I'm not exactly right when I say "with the setup you have" because you're going to need to buy what's called a wireless router to connect.
Basically, the setup you have works like this:
highspeed Internet connection from service provider (BT in your case) connects to highspeed modem connects via Ethernet cable to your computer.

While you can configure the wireless network with a password, since the Sony PSP claims to support the various secure wireless protocols, my experience is that it never connects properly. Instead, I suggest you leave it password-free, though it's not particularly secure. If you have good neighbors, you're probably safe...

Or you may just simply:

Wireless network connection Step1Turn on the “WLAN” switch on your PSP when you are in range of a wireless access point. Step2Select the “Network” option on the “Home” menu. Step3Select the “Internet Browser” option and then press “X.” Step4Use the Up and Down direction buttons to select the address bar. Step5Press the Circle button to display the onscreen keyboard. Step6Use the onscreen keyboard to enter a Web address. Step7Select the “Enter” key and then press button “X.” Step8Select a connection and then press “X” to display the Web page. jQuery('.Article .Steps .Image').each(function(i,e){ var $this = jQuery(this); $this.find('img').error(function(){ jQuery(this).remove(); $this.remove(); }); }); good luck!

Theres this yellow exclamation mark on my start button telling me to install updates

Fast & Easy Windows Update Fix. Takes Just 2 Minutes (Recommended)
Be sure to disable your anti-virus protection before checking for updates. This very well may be your problem.

I suggest changing the settings of your automatic updates as that may trigger it to do this for you.

Then disable any other programs that you can by right-clicking the icon in the system tray (next to the time, bottom-right corner of monitor) and selecting 'exit' or 'quit' or something like that.

If you are having a lot of trouble, you can get ahold of Microsoft at too.

To change any settings related to Microsoft Update, go to .

Besides that, I recommend erasing the cookies and internet data. Click START > CONTROL PANEL > INTERNET OPTIONS. Then in the 'general' tab, click DELETE and erase all of the cookies and temporary internet files and such.

If that doesn't work, try rebooting your machine and tap F8 until you get the boot selection menu. Select "Windows Safe Mode with Networking". Try to go online again and see if you can download updates with that configuration.

If it still doesn't work, you can try disabling your browser add-ons that are installed in Internet Explorer. To do this, click START > ALL PROGRAMS > CONTROL PANEL. Open up INTERNET OPTIONS.

Click the GENERAL tab (if not open). Under "Browsing history", click DELETE... and then DELETE ALL. Put a check next to "Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons.". Click YES.

While still in the Internet Properties dialog box, click the SECURITY tab. At the bottom of the window, click RESET ALL ZONES TO DEFAULT LEVEL.

Now click the PRIVACY tab. Click the DEFAULT button (unless you are unable to). There is a good chance that it may be unavailable, meaning that you are currently at the recommended privacy settings already.

How to install router

Power on your computer. Remove contents from package if you have not done so already. Locate the installation poster, a CD and any instructions.

Place the router installation CD into your computer tray and start it up.

Do not power on or connect the router to your computer at this point.

Follow the directions from the router CD that are displayed on your computer screen.

This may include typing in a series of numbers in your web browser address bar that look like: (depending on the router manufacturer).

Click the "next" button on the bottom when prompted as you complete the steps.

Connect the router to your modem and computer with the appropriate cables and power it on at the appropriate step (not before).

The one from the computer (usually a color) goes into your networking jack in the back of your computer and the other (grey/white) goes into your router in any of the jacks numbered 1-4.

The color does not matter; it just keeps you from getting the connections confused.

If you need a diagram or further assistance, look at the poster that came with your router.

Follow any additional steps the on the install screens. And test the router to ensure it can access the internet.

This is the most important installation step.

Set up the security as needed and print out the security key page and store in a safe place. Take note of any passwords or settings you place on the router as well. This can include WEP or WPA key. You may wish to print out this information for the router and keep in a safe place.

Remove the router install CD from the drive once you have completed all the steps.

Leave the router powered on and attempt to access the Internet from your laptop computer or other computers on your network.

Double-click Internet Explorer to get online.

Restart the computer if prompted.

Be sure all the lights are on your router when it starts back up and you are able to access the Internet. If this functions properly, your router is installed properly.

hope this helps

My laptop cannot hookup to the enternet with my dlink wireless card

To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router’s wireless settings configured and also needs the wireless cards in all the laptops and or computers to be configured with the router’s wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: -
1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.
3. Enter the router setup, login and password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA).
7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.
To access the Internet you need to connect the DSL or cable modem to the WAN (Internet) port on the wireless router.

How to set up my ssid security on my router

The first step is to open a internet browser window, in the address bar type hit enter.

You will see a small window asking for the user name and password. This is the name you gave the router when it was installed and the password you issued during installation. Enter those and you will see the Belkin settings. Go to wireless security, choose a security level and either it will give you a security pin with the correct number of digits and letters or it will ask you to choose your own security numbers. Put in the security code of your choice, hit save settings and exit out.

I have forgottten my Belkin Wireless security key and need to instore wireless on my new lapton but it keeps on asking me of my security key. What do I need to do

If you hold the reset button in for over 45 seconds, you will totally reset all the settings on the router, thereby eliminating the wireless security. This will allow you to access your router and re-establish security. Remember when you do though to attach an ethernet cable to the router to change your settings, because when changes are made, the wireless capability is the first thing to get shut off before it resets.

Just a hunch but try downloading Firefox from and install it. See if you can access either site with firefox. If so then Internet Explorer is corrupted and you'll need to install the latest version of IE.
