Question about Compaq Deskpro EN 6500+ Model 6400 CDS PC Desktop

NO SCREEN, FROZEN KEYS

My CP turns on, all lights are on, but NO SCREEN. Also, all lights are blue and none turn orange to disable such as the mouse pad and volume. HELP? Was using this an hour before and now all of a sudden nothing! I had a MYBOOK hooked up to it with autoplay enabled. Would that pose a problem?

    Remove the Monitor cable from the back of the tower, and see if it displays the test message. If that is working, then its not a problem with the monitor.

Take out all peripherals connected to computer including AC adapter.
Take out battery.
Press and hold power button for several seconds with all power sources removed. This drains residual power from the system and may correct many problems.
Connect the AC adapter to wall, then computer. Press the power button to start the notebook PC.

If the link doesn't help it is at HP website, Troubleshooting, I looked at Compaq Presario v3000 series, and went to boot-up problems...it was pretty far down the page under the heading Other Problems. There is more info if the first part (above) that you do does not work. Hope this is helpful to others!

Mouse is frozen, i want to reset my notebook and dont know how


Make sure you haven't disabled the Track pad. Check to see if there is any buttons around the Track pad or around the 'F' keys.
If its not that the computer will have more than likely frozen. Just press and hold the Power Button until the screen goes blank. Then turn back on

Orange light on mouse pad came on preventing use

Press the button above the touchpad where the amber light is, when it turns blue the touchpad will be enabled.

Orange light comes on occassionally on mouse pad and cursor freezes, how do i stop this


Tap the orange light quickly two times to enable the touchpad. Touch the same spot twice to disable the touchpad. To see the instructions from HP type "mouse" into the Search Programs and Files. Click on "Change mouse settings" and click Device Settings. Click on "Settings" and click "Touch pad disable zone". I was delighted to have found this as I had been restarting the computer manually to enable the touchpad. Shame on HP. The instructions for this simple problem are difficult to locate for the average user. They can do better.

if there is a light above the touchpad it should be blue if it is orange it is turned off push the button by the light it will go blue and the mouse will work.

Would like explanation of function key symbols I want to turn off the finger pad.


function key is Fn key on keyboard.
these keys might be in orange color
with the help of these keys you can control sound volume. you can adjust screen resolution like brightness .you can also turn off/on wireless features.These keys are like shorcuts keys to perform few functions on your laptop.

To turn off your the finger pad

You can use the Mouse Properties window to disable the touch pad and track stick or adjust their settings.
Open the Control Panel, and then click Mouse. For information about the Control Panel, see Windows Help and Support Center <findinfo.htm>.

In the Mouse Properties window:
Click the Device Select tab to disable the touch pad and track stick.
Click the Touch Pad tab to adjust touch pad and track stick settings.

Click OK to save the settings and close the window.

Compaq notebook laptop: my mouse pointer or arrow is


If you have a manual for the notebook, check to see if you can use the function key and the similarly coloured key on the keyboard which enables/disables the touch pad. Usually you can disable the mouse pointer touch pad with this FUNCTION key + MOUSE key when pressed together. Often these keys have the same colour (usually blue). The purpose is to disable the touch pad when you are using an external USB or wireless mouse, then you press the 2 keys again together to enable the touch pad once you have removed the USB/wireless mouse.

If that doesn't work, borrow a USB mouse and attach it to your notebook to use temporarily while you diagnose the problem.

Orange light on top of keyboard stays on


Hi
That light means that you have either disabled the mouse / touch pad or activated it. below it should be a longer button to disable or enable it.

Just push in on the wifi light Icon on the top of the laptop. It is a light and a switch. The led light will turn orange when it is off and blue when it is on. That's it. Later gater..
