Says add paper to large tray even though it is full

Display continuously asks for paper to be added to large tray even though there is a sizeable amount of paper in the tray

make sure that there is no paper in the overflow side of the large paper tray or, if there is, make sure that it is seated as far away as possible from the center of the tray. this problem happens when paper in the overflow tray gets jostled and blocks the center sensor. the error message is incorrect/misleading

Depending on which large capacity feeder you have.
If you have the one that is on the bottom of the machine, make sure there is a gap between the paper in the front and rear of the paper tray, There is a black plastic guide in the middle of the tray that may be being caught by the paper.
If you have the large capacity feeder on the right side of the machine then most likely the black actuator that tells the machine the tray is full has broken or the sensor is bad,

Says paper jam and there isnt!

It is possible that even though there are no full sheets of paper jamming the printer that some torn bits have been left behind. You need to make sure that cleaning is complete.

Visit this site for full details:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00212225&tmp_task=solveCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&site=null&lang=en&product=422000&key=null

Preventing paper jams The following recommendations can help prevent recurring paper jams in your HP product.
  • Before loading paper in the tray, hold the stack of paper, and then tap the bottom edge on a flat surface so that the stack is even on all sides.
  • Make sure that the length and width adjusters on the tray are correctly positioned, and then push the stack of paper forward until it stops in the tray. CAUTION: Do not force the paper to move too far forward in the tray.
  • Do not overload the tray with paper.
  • Only add paper to the tray when the product is not printing.
  • Make sure the HP product supports the paper type. See the documentation that came with the HP product for more information.
  • Do not print on paper with paper clips or staples attached.
  • Do not use paper that is bent, torn, dusty, damp, wrinkled, curled, or paper that does not lie flat.
  • Use only one type of paper at a time. Do not mix different types, weights, or sizes of paper.
  • Do not use paper that is too thin, too thick, or too glossy for the product.
Cause The following factors can cause paper jams:
  • Paper loaded incorrectly in the paper tray.
  • Damaged or dirty paper rollers.
  • Torn, wrinkled, or damp paper loaded in the paper tray.
  • The rear access door or two-sided printing accessory (duplexer) might not be closed or is not locked into place.
  • Paper was added to a stack already in the tray while the HP product was printing.
  • The tray contains more than one type of paper.
  • The paper is jammed inside the HP product where you cannot see it.
  • An obstruction is blocking the paper path.
  • Torn pieces of paper from a previous jam are stuck in the product.
  • The tray is too full.
  • If printing on an envelope, the edges of the envelope are bent.

I hope thihs is helpful.

HP Laserjet 2430n printer won't see the paper in Tray 2. Continues to give in display paper size *letter and *plain but I set it and it just comes back asking again. When you print it won't pickup from...

Yes I checked the tray throughly. I also changed to paper to legal plain and changed the configuration...still came back on the display panel change paper size...just won't stop asking.

If I put the add-on paper tray 500 sheet that tray works fine.

I was thinking though I might order another paper tray and try it since I replaced the pickup assy and still have problems...what do you think

I also cold reset the printer just in the event something was set wrong...still has problems

Our Fuji Xerox 204a will not print, and continues to display the paper light, even though the tray is full. I have just changed the toner.

Go through your toner change procedure again, it could be that something is just not quite back in place correctly.

Out of paper notification

Where is the copier asking to add paper to? Is it looking for paper in the manual bypass tray. Try to add paper to that tray and let it make it's copy from that tray. Some body may have chosing that tray to print from. Also, check to see if may be some one was adding paper to the paper trays and changed the paper tray input size to another paper size. Lastly, I would pull out the paper trays and look to see it you may have some paper jamed behind the paper trays them self, just remove the jammed paper and that should do it. These are basic things to check. Good Luck
