Re: says add paper to large tray even though it is full
Depending on which large capacity feeder you have.
If you have the one that is on the bottom of the machine, make sure there is a gap between the paper in the front and rear of the paper tray, There is a black plastic guide in the middle of the tray that may be being caught by the paper.
If you have the large capacity feeder on the right side of the machine then most likely the black actuator that tells the machine the tray is full has broken or the sensor is bad,

Check your default paper settings in your setup menu. Also, check the paper size is set correctly on you paper trays for the type of paper that is in them. Make sure that the documents that you are printing are set to proper paper size that is in your printer. All the issues, will cause this condition plus some. But those are the easiest, let me know if it continues. Good Luck
A5 is a European paper size standard. Your label making program is telling the printer that the program needs that size label paper. You have to tell the printer to use that size paper. It may be somewhere in the menu of the printer driver on the computer or it may be on the display window on the printer, or it may be as simple as flipping a tab in the paper tray. As far as the printing outside the standard margins, most printers will allow a certain amount of that without a problem. Just tell it yes or Ok. If you solve the paper size problem and it hangs up when you tell it to print outside the margins, then the printer is not compatible with that label format in the label printing program. You will have to choose a different format. I recommend that you select a label format that is a US standard like 3 across on 8 1/2 x 11 paper.
So you're saying it will only pull paper from tray 1? This is likely because there is some setting that makes it think the paper in the other tray is not "normal" -- either thick paper, or a different size, or recycled. Check the paper type and size settings in the printer's menu, and also check the settings in the print driver.
The other tray that you want to duplex from is capable of duplexing, right? On some printers you can only duplex from specific trays.
I suffered from the same problem for a long time. We got Xerox Phaser 8550 and 8560 here. I choose on computer "tray 2" but the printer just print from tray 1 which is empty.
Today i figured it out! It's some configuration at the printer. So go to "Paper tray setp" -> "Tray 1 mode" and "Tray 2 mode" -> change to "static".
I figure it's like this. Before it was "dynamic", it probably means the printer decides it's better to use tray 1 even though you choose tray 2 - and this decision is stupid. Changing it to "static" fixes this.
check and make sure that the paper is in near the rollers enough that it senses the paper and picks it up. try lightly pushing the paper down toward the rollers as it is suppose to pull one sheet through the feeder. hopefully, you didnt pull too hard on getting the 'jammed' paper out that it may have caused a misalignment in the feeder. try assisting the paper, that usually fixes it. hope this helps!
First why is the tray set for size A4 Paper. That is metric size paper for oversea locations. Should be set for 81/2"x11, or 11"x81/2.. is there any paper stuck behind the 1st tray? are the guides that hold the paper in place in the draw snug up aganist the paper in the draw. is the bottom sheet of paper in the stack/rem of paper benton the edge. All sheets of paper in the draw must be flat.
