But the system is not permiting me to change it
Before physcially changing a hard drive, you need to know a few things such as:
Windows by default only recognizes a RAW ( new blank hard drive) up to 150 gigs, anything past that wont be seen. Because of this, if its over 150 gigs, you will need to slave the hard drive to a working computer, then use a utility to partition the drive. Seagate and Western Digital both have such programs and they are free from ther eweb sites. The manufacturer of yurs should also.
Once youhave done this, back up all you info from the original hard drive onto a Data DVD or Some other External device such as a Pin drive or external USB Hard driv or similar.
Then, install the new Hard drive ( provided it is the right kind for the laptop) and then boot into the windows CD and begin install.
Now typically, you want to use the CD that came with the laptop because it has all the Drivers you need and is the best way to do it.
If you donr have it, then you will have to install a fresh copy of windows and will aslo have to go online with another computer and download all the driver and burn to a CD or put on a Pin drive, then install them on the laptop manually.
If you ave any other questions, please ask, You may have many so its up to you to tell us what they are as you go along.
Good luck.
