S/PDIF port

You probably need to enable the port. This is in the Playback Audio Device control Panel. Connect your cable between the computer and the audio receiver (audio in port). With Windows 7, click on Start > Control Panel. Then go to Hardware and Sound. Click on Manage Audio Devices. Under the Playback tab, look to see what devices are listed. If you do not see a optical audio device, right click on the window and select Show Disabled Devices. Then right click on the Optical Port option and make it the default. (Alternatively, left click and use the drop down menu below.) Click Apply to confirm this.

In Windows 8, use the Charms menu from the Desktop (Windows Key + C). Choose Settings and then the Control Panel. Then follow the above directions.

If you have a different OS, please add a comment with that information. I hope this helps.

I am triying to locate S/PDIF out pin for Asus p5lp-le motherboard. Thanks Ghirmai

Do you mean the solder point? The S/ PDIF connector / jack is wired directly to the motherboard and is orange in color. Not quite sure what you're asking. This is a coaxial connector and the solder pin connection would be easily found with a continuity checker, but again you're not too clear in what you're asking. Btw, if this helps, please don't forget to provide a rating. Here are the specs for your motherboard:

I bought P7H55-M motherboard. I try to install soundcard (2-cards) E-mu 1212m, but always when I try to install drivers it says that it will stop installation since it doesnt find any hardwareto fit with...

The P7H55-M motherboard has on-board audio and connections to the audio on the rear connections including a S/PDIF connector. If you want to install a soundcard then you should first disable the on-board audio controller in the Bios.

You can find all the drivers you need in the below link

Just be careful because linux drivers are jumbled along with the windows drivers so look carefully.

This package contains the driver for the Conexant Audio in the supported notebook models and operating systems. Which I picked Vista for you & your model: Pavilion dv8000t CTO.
Release Date: 2007-05-20 Version: 3.40.0.50 A. Don't feel bad you would be surprised how many pc motherboards & notebooks have this problem. Vista by far is the worst.
There is also a Security Update for HP Software. I'll list the link here as well. (do not know if you did this yet).

Post back if this did not help & I'll continue to find a better fix!
Understanding a little about S/PDIF & Vista.
Vista does indeed prevent Protected or "Premium" Content (mp3, wma, etc) from being channeled in any manner which would allow the user to create an "un-protected" copy. That is the purpose of the new O/S, to protect DRM at any cost...including customer utility. S/PDIF is considered "unsafe" and is therefore crippled to a great extent in Vista. Additionally, all hardware manufacturers are required to provide ONLY drivers that will inhibit functions such as S/PDIF in the Vista environment. Should Vista find an "unsafe" driver during the mandatory "update" process, the machine will call home and the driver will be disabled.
