Dell C521 Where to connect monitor?

I recently bought a new monitor for my DELL C521. When I first plugged it in it was fine but when I rebooted Igot this message.

''This computer has an add-in graphics card, but the monitor cable is plugged into the integrated video connector.
To attach the monitor cable to the add-in graphics card:
1. Shut down the computer
2. Plug the monitor cable into the add-in graphics card connector. You may require a video adapter or a video adapter cable.
3. Turn on the computer''

The problem is that there is no where else to plug in the monitor cable.

I bought a reconditioned Dell C521 and have no monitor cable. I see from checking online that the video card is a Radeon X1300 Pro. The connector at the back of the computer is white and has 4 rows each of about 25 tiny holes. What type of connector is this please?

This means that you have an external video card (which is not outside the computer). This video card will be plugged into the motherboard. That message is saying that the port on the back of the computer that your monitor is plugged into is the wrong one. You need to look for another port on the back of the computer.

Here is a picture of a VGA port that you should use if you have a VGA cable to connect the monitor (Blue Ends).

Here is a picture of a DVI port that you should use if you have a DVI cable to connect the monitor (White Ends).

So depending on the cable and connections that are available on your computer and your monitor depends on what you have to use. I hope that wasn't too confusing. Let me know if you need more info.

Unplug the computer, Check if the cable connections to everything, reseat, you may have inadvertently disloged a connection when you installed the card. wait 30 seconds or so, plug in, reboot. You say the monitor is fine, what do you see on the monitor?

I have a Dell A525 Speaker system that I bought to use with a Dell projector and an Inspiron laptop computer. It worked fine until I had the computer stolen. Not thinking ahead I bought an HP computer...

The speakers can be used with the HP computer. The connection on the speaker set should look like the connector on a headset or headphones for an ipod. The connection for this can be located on the back of the computer near the location of where you plug in your monitor and keyboard. There also may be another location to plug this in at. If you had recently purchased this laptop, many manufacturers will put a connection the the front of the PC. Usually under a flap of some sort.
