This seems to be caused by a faulty driver on the system.. you need to update the drivers from the Dell site... here is the link

My dell d600 mouse icon is not stable. Just moving from one corner to the other.an whenever i on the systemit will not on untill i hit under.

The touchpad area of these units are notorious (as are all manufacturers) for going out. The get dirty and get stuck. Before ruling it dead try these quick tests. 1. Go to the manufacturer website.. Most likely www.synaptics.com and download the latest driver for your operating system. 2. Take a business card and gently go around the border of the pad right where it meets teh plastic case of the laptop to remove any dirt. dont insert the card but a bit.. to far and you can damage it further. 3. Taking your finger trace over the entire finger pad with gentle but firm pressure. do this several times to dislodge it if stuck. If your mouse continues to "trek" across or up and down you may need to disable the touchpad and use an external mouse. You do so by going into Start, Control Panel, Mouse, and disable device. An external mouse can be purchased for 19 to 25 dollars at Officemax, Officedepot, or Best Buy.

My mouse on my dell latitude d600 will wonder into a corner and not come out for several seconds

try connecting an external mouse. if no problems using external mouse then uninstall reinstall the touchpad driver. you can get the drivers from the dell support site under drivers and downloads.

if problem persist even using an external mouse then try to (update anti virus and run full system scan, uninstall any previously installed windows updates or do a system restore) update the BIOS as well.

Dell Lattiude D600 cursor locked in middle of screen - even after we turn on and off - no way to do anything because cursor won't move - not even little blue mouse in the middle of the screen

Try booting up after installing an external USB mouse. This may give you a mouse to install new keyboard drivers.
If the problem is the keyboard/tracking pad, (hardware) installing another keyboard may eliminate the issue.

Dell d600 mouse pointer jumps into corners if working on documents etc.; maybe if the system stores data in the cache or ram, the cursor wether jumps into the left down corner or moves slowly in directon...

What the issue is, is the eraser head mouse in the enter of the keyboard. When you type, it's putting uneccessary pressure on it, and it makes the pointer move. The only solution I know for this is to get the updated ALPS driver for the mouse, and disable the eraserhead (The updated driver gives you an option to do this), thereby using only the touchpad mouse.

Dell Latiture D600 Touchpad not working!

Have you downloaded and installed the latest glide pad drivers from Dell?

Upon starting your laptop I would enter the bios setup screens and navigate the startup screens using Alt+P to find the pointer settings and set your or check that yours is using Glide Pad only, If you so choose to use an external USB travel mouse, this setting must be changed to Serial only.

Once, you download and install the latest drivers for the Glide Pad, and by the way, the Glide Pad on the D600 series is its only weak link in an otherwise best in class laptop.

To access the sensitivity settings for your Glide Pad after installing the new driver or in your case this may be reinstalling (I have to do this way to often) open Mouse within Control Panel and the last Tab is your Glide Pad. Here you can change a lot of the property values for things like sensitivity and double tap scrolling etc. Your mention of the mouse traveling up and to the right in most case is normal for this laptop.

Here is the link for the Glide Pad driver update. If this link has expired, here is the permanent location. Just click on the download button on this page. Download and move to a unique folder as the file name won't be of help. Move to something like c:\software\Dell\Glide Pad\

Worldvet
