Question about Toshiba 56HM66 56" Projection HDTV
My Toshiba 56hm66 TV blew the lamp after it was 2 1/2 years old. Under the extended service warranty, Best Buy sent me a new lamp and I installed it and watched TV for 3-hours last night. When I got up the next morning and turned on the TV, the blue light came on and you could hear a little click in the rear of the TV sounding like a switch. After about 7-8 seconds the lamp light would blink 15-times and then go off and you would hear the click in the rear of the TV again. After 7-8 seconds the above process would keep repeating until I would turn the TV off.
You now have a defective lamp ballast board. It sometimes is the root cause of lamp failures in these sets. The problem here is that Toshiba does not sell the ballast board independently from the larger, more expensive light engine assy. Call Best Buy back and get a servicer out there. He may have to take the ballast board out of your TV and send it out for rebuilding.
