Question about Tomtom GO 720 GPS Receiver
So i just bought this and can't access the tomtom through tomtom home. i've uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled then plugged in the tomtom and in tomtom home - it says that 'there is no compatible tomtom device connected to the computer'. it also says 'please connect your tomtom device using a usb cable and turn it on.'
this has been done. i've tried all various combinations (and have also reset it). the weirdest thing is; when i click 'my device' in tomtom home - the tomtom acts as though it is being accessed, but it doesn't show up in tomtom home. when i plug it in via any of the usb's, it'll show in my computer as a removable device, and also the autorun function works. so it's all connected but seems to be a problem with tomtom home.
thanks so much for anyone that can help. it sucks to buy this and straight away have it not do what it's supposed to do.
Hold the reset button in for 15 seconds located on the botton of the tomtom, plug in the usb then the tom tom and turn on this should slove your problem

Agree with dave10031. If you have an expansion card in with any software update stored on it, then your GO720 may not talk to your cell phone (blue tooth becomes inactive), nor will it be recognised by the computer when you connect it via USB. Solution: remove the damned expansion card, then just either use the 720 as normal, or connect in the usual manner to your computer to update software, maps, etc. Only ever update mapping software to the INTERNAL MEMORY - never to the expansion card, if fitted.

If you have a memory card in your TomTom - take it out before you sync!
Then bigo jingos - your PC will see the tomtom as a tomtom not some sort of mass storage device that it has no USB driver to run.
