The murmuring sound is in all probability a Hard Drive noise... I had a similar problem and the solution lies in the BIOS.. at startup press F2 or the Del key to load into BIOS... in Bios you will need to look you way to an option for the HDD devices.. In my BIOS I had a option for an acoustic quiet mode which stopped the sound eminating from my hard drive

Note that all BIOS versions are different... If this does not solve the issue then please post the make of your laptop along with the BIOS version

Mate it seems that either your hard drive is at its last stage or the only other reason might be a intricate component failure in which case you first need to back up all your data just to be safe n then proceed to troubleshooting but it is difficult to go forward without knowing the laptop make or model so please post what company is ur laptop n what is the model number...

Operating System not found

Im assuming you have an installation or a recovery disk

Insert the Windows install disk for your version of Windows and reboot the PC.

With the computer unable to find the operating system on the hard drive, it may skip automatically to the next possible boot device, which should be the CD or DVD-ROM drive.

Some systems may be configured to boot to that source first, and others may not be configured to roll over to the next device at all.

When in doubt, there should be an option to select boot device when the computer is first powered on (the F12 key on most Dell computers) and you can boot straight to the optical drive from there.

Press any key when prompted to boot to the install disk, then follow the on-screen instructions.

You'll want to try to perform a repair on the existing Windows install, which you will get to by first selecting a new install of Windows.

Select to install a new operating system, and the install package will look to see if Windows is already installed.

If it finds the existing install, the installer should give you a chance to perform a repair of what's currently on the hard drive, replacing corrupted files with clean ones from the install disk.

If the Windows installer does not detect an existing Windows install on the hard drive, then the hard drive itself may be at fault.

Replace the hard drive and repeat the first few steps to install Windows from scratch.

The original hard drive is likely corrupted or otherwise broken, and may not be recoverable at all, outside of an expensive, third-party data retrieval service.

hope this helps

Hey, either a hard disk corruption or some missing/corrupt files - Solution: Format and reinstall your Operating system. If that doesnt work, maybe you need a hard disk replacement.
But before that, are you sure you haven't connected any USB drives or flash drives or an external hard drive when you computer boots up. That could be the reason. Solution: disconnect any such device before you start your computer.

My hard disk might fail

Hard disks do not last forever, eventually they will fail.
If you get an error message "hard disk about to fail" you should back up your data ASAP before the hard disk fails.
You can keep using the hard disk until it fails, BUT back up your data frequently.
When your hard disk fails then you need to replace it and install Windows on your laptop plus the laptop's device drivers and your programs to get a working laptop again.

Hello
Check your system with external speakers, if it gives same problem its mean that the audio drivers od the system gone corrupt, needs re-installation,
if the system gives the correct sound, means that the speakers gone damaged, need repair/replacement, you can do by your self if you are technical enough otherwise you need technical assistance from Dell Support
Good Luck

No operating system found

If the error message says "No operating system found" it is most likely a faulty disk controller or a faulty hard disk.
Reseat the hard disk, if this doesn't work you need to test the hard disk another way. Remove the hard disk and connect it to an USB hard disk adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port. If this computer sees this as an external hard drive and you can open the folders and files then the hard disk is OK and the fault is the disk controller on the the 4115c laptop.
If the hard disk is not detected then the hard disk is faulty. You need to install a new hard disk, install Windows and the laptop's device drivers and programs to get a working laptop again.

My laptop is still producing tghe murmuring sound

The Type of sound you mention can really be only two things, either it's a fan that's loose, or on the way out. Or vibration caused by something that is loose either inside or out. Do a cursory check by applying a small amount of preassure, "just the weight of your hand should be enough", Over the laptop while it's running, paying particulsr attention to the hinge area and the area around the perimiter of the nootebook. If it stops, there may be a loose fitting or screw someware. If it's internal you would do better if you let the manufacturer look at it. The bios should not have anything to do with it as noise is an indication of vibration, or a bad component inside.
