There should be a reset switch on the back which you can use, a paper clip should fit in or something else thats quite small. you will have to hold it for a few seconds then you should be able to log back in as the default admin

Got a Hitachi HDD 5k500.b-160 that is password locked. Came out of a Gateway KAV60. It was given to me because. They knew not the BIOS password so I reset it via CMOS battery and what not. Help?

The Hard Drive is what is locked not the bios it seems. The hard drive may be encrypted by Veracrypt or some other third party hard disk encryption platform. The only way to unlock it is to find who encrypted it and ask for the password.

It keeps showing incorrect password, but it works on the other tablet

I don't know what you are being told, but getting rude with us will not get you the help you wish for. If everything were working as YOU state, then there should not be a problem in the first place. However, there apparently IS a problem, and assuming it is not "operator error" (meaning YOU), then we will make suggestions that you can check on and try to get past this problem. It IS possible that the tablet itself is defective and won't connect whatever you try. But since it SEEMS to be making the effort, I would sort of lean in another direction. While it may seem that the password is the problem, occasionally, it is the router, or better stated, the router configuration, that is to blame. Does your router (the one you are trying to connect to) use MAC filtering? If so, the MAC address of the tablet would need to be entered into the table in the router before the router will accept the connection form the tablet. Without that, it would appear to simply be an incorrect password entry as you describe. If that is not the case, then be sure you are attempting to connect using the proper form of encryption on the tablet. Many older units use the old WEP encryption, which most routers do not acknowledge any longer. Ensure you are using WPA or WPA2, whichever the router is set up for.

The computer will not be able to pick up the D-link network I have set up if I switch the modem and router off. Even when I leave it running it will sometimes not get picked up.

try changing the encryption type. This sounds like the computer your using does not support the encryption type being used by the router.

1. Go to the setup screen of your router. For a D-Link router, you typically fireup your browser, go to, and type in your username and password, my default username and password is admin, admin.
2. Click on the Wireless link. It will open Wireless settings.
3. There are options to let you set your Encryption Preferences. You can provide an encryption key that will be used by the router and any PC that wants to use the network.
4. select none. (if your wifi now works then you have found your problem and you can try the alternate encryption type, either WPA or WEP)

My son has just bought a Xbox 360 kinect and he wants to sign up for the online Xbox live and we are unable to get the WEP key in order to connect. We are using the Netgear but have tried,...

What you are entering are IP addresses, these are not the WEP encryption key.
The XBox needs the Netgear WEP encryption key, this is in the Netgear wireless settings.
To get this encryption key connect a LAN cable from a computer's LAN port to the Netgear, open a browser and enter the Netgear configuration URL
The default login = admin
The default PW = password
You can now go into the wireless settings - you can view the WEP encryption key

I have a 2Wire 1700HW router that is locked or encrypted. How do I unlock it? It is old and I'm not with the same internet provider.

First you will need to open the router set up.
Is there any computer connected to the router with the Ethernet cable ?
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router.
Check the IP address of the computer and open the router set up.

I would like to know what wep is? i am trying to go on the intenet to download some sruff

WEP stands for Wireless Encryption Protocol, Simply, It is a password to your Router or access point, And you'll need to have your Router/Access point set to WEP if you need it encrypted (Or locked so other people can't access it)To find how to do this, Search for your router on Google and see how to set it to WEP. Since you didn't post your Brand/Name for your router, I can't help you with that, If you still have problems, try contacting Nintendo.

Getting on the network

Hi, if you do not want to enter password to cnonect the wireless ipod to the network then you will have to disable the security encryption on the router itself.

Follow the steps below to disable encryption:

1. Open the browser(Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox).
2. Access the router usually else try
3. Login to the router with the User Name as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the username and password is case sensitive).
4. Click on Wireless Settings'(under Setup) from the left menu.
5. Select security options as None/Disable.
6. Apply the settings.

Set the ipod to default setting and scan for the wireless network and connect to the wireless network without encryption.
