I've finally upgraded from 5.1 to 7.1. My problem lies in the fact that
my rear most seating is almost tight to the back wall and there is no
way to move it any farther forward. I've looked at adding a set
Paradigm ADP-370's instead of a straight firing bookshelf as they would
fire over the heads of the viewers and defeat the purpose of being
there but even the 370's may be wrong. I've considered going to an
Speakercraft AIMFive in-wall mounted overhead but directed at the wall
behind the viewers. The rest of my speakers are all Paradigm so I worry
about the inwalls, even with an accoustic baffle used, being too bright
compared to the Paradigms.

It's not that big!
Maybe in a couple years when they're down to a reasonable price but
it's burning a hole in my pocket, I don't think I could hang onto it
that long if I had too! :-)

My thoughts were that not only is there not much out there in 7.1, but
the signal sent to them is pretty minor in the whole staging setup.
I'm hoping it's small enough that the difference in speakers is
negligible. Again, I would go with matching rears but I'm unable to
get them back far enough to be properly used. The signal would fire
beyond the rear most viewers. You can see the problem here:

I wish Paradigm made an inwall that would match...
The room sounds great as 5.1 but since I have a reciever that is
capable of it, and I have a credit note at a local home theater store
for enough to cover it, I'd really like to add these.

system. Changing brands may not sound as it should.. but... There is not
really much in the way of 7.1 audio out there, if any, so you may be going
after something that really will not make it any better for you.
I put in a 5.1 system but purchased the back speakers at the same time just
in case the 7.1 starts to show payoff. But for now, they are still in the
box.
