There is a switch inside your headphone jack. When you plug your headphone in it moves and breaks connection telling the phone that the headphones are plugged in. Try plugging and unplugging a headset to see if it frees this switch up. If not you may have a malfunctioning switch.
Also, turn off bluetooth if it is on...it might be hooked up to a bluetooth headset if you have one.
Verify there is nothing plugged into the headset port, including
headsets, headphones, or adapters.
While on the Home screen, adjust the volume buttons. If you see
the icon below, indicating that headphones are attached, there may be
debris in the headset port:
To remove debris in the headset port, try connecting a pair of
headphones to the headset port and then remove the headphones. Repeat
this several times.
If you have paired with a Bluetooth headset that is nearby,
either use the headset or turn Bluetooth off (choose Settings
> General > Bluetooth).
If that doesn't work, try restarting the iPhone. Hold the
Sleep/Wake button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off
your device. When it is off, press the Sleep/Wake button to turn it
I have a similar problem on my phone, which is that when I insert my headset, it does not recognise it. And thus the music is played through the loudspeaker. And if it is recognised (luckily), then after I take it out, I see that the headset sign is still there. The only solution I have had is to turn the phone off and switch it on again. The sign should go away by then.
please contact nokia service centre for further assistance because the headphone symbol reveals that a headphone is connected which should not appear as you say..so please take your mobile to nokia care for service..thank you!!..
