WiFi on Pocket PC

By kcw573 - usenet poster

Hello, have a problem with WiFi on Pocket PC.

My program uses WIFI for calls.
When device goes to syspend mode it looses WiFi connection, so I cant
receive calls in syspend.

I want to leave wifi connection in syspend when my application runs
to be able to receive calls and turn device on.

Can somebody help me???

The worst problems are on Acer n300, HP iPAQ

Thx in advance

What do you think about this:

m_hWiFiKeeper = ::SetPowerRequirement( ( void* )
( sWiFiDeviceName.c_str() ), REQUIRED_POWER_STATE, POWER_NAME |
POWER_FORCE, NULL, 0 );

on some devices it works, wi-fi doesn't turn off in suspend,
but on Acer, HP pocket PC's it does.

Perhaps it is some othet implementation for that devices.

Thx...

You can try to implement what media players do, prevent the device from
sleeping, then only shut the display off.
p.s. Only Wifi is shut off on sleep, GPRS connection and non-file transfer
bluetooth connections are kept on.

You likely can't. When you suspend, the radio is turned off. The OEM made
that decision. The only way around it would be to never put the device into
suspend mode. You might be able to hack something together that tries to
emulate a timeout and then turns off just the backlight, but I'm not sure
how you'd get it all working without being directly in the PM, battery and
touch driver pipelines.
