Question about Samsung CLP-500N Laser Printer
My CLP-500 no longer commences printing at a consistent position on the page. The top margin varies from sheet to sheet. I have checked for dirt on feed rollers and these look fine. I have also removed and cleaned the feed position sensor in the paper path. I checked this with a DVM and it switches from around 0V to around 2.2V when I block/unblock the light path. Is anyone able to tell me whether this is an appropriate switching level? Where should I look next for the cause of this problem? Thanks.

I had same problem and it got resolved by lifting the front portion of the paper tray up. I put a spare USB drive under the paper tray for sufficient push upwards. It seems to be working fine now for me.

Thanks for using FixYa. Paper jam is a very common problem with the printers.
First of all clean off the rubber piece that pulls the paper into the printer from the tray with rubbing alcohol, and also take a knife to the rubber piece to rough it up to create more traction.
To clear the paper jam problem you need to remove the back roller mechanism to get at paper. If still the problem persists, then check the following to resolve the issue--
1. Please check all interlocks, electrical and signal connections are seated properly.
2. Front cover, back cover and lid are closed properly.
3. Power plug and USB cable are connected.
4. Printer is turned on with switch on the back.
5. Toner signal lights sequenced, with yellow overall led on.
6. There is some noise of paper roller movement.
7. Toner signal lights all out, overall status light turned to red
8. No visible paper in paper tray or anywhere else.
9. No paper in tray---added paper
10. Waste toner container is full or not installed ---empty, installed properly.
Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

I understand the rollers are clean but are they viable to pick up single sheets. I dont think it can due to no matenance to the rubber on the rollers themselves.
Go to fixyourownprinter.com and purchase the "rejuvination roller" jar. With this product, you must use a qtip and dip some of the solution on it. Then rub down all rubber rollers and let it sit dry for about 14 minutes. After that, you can do a test and you will see that the rollers gained their feel to print single sheets again or pull out paper again
