My server looks as if the raid controller was affected by power failure. it could not found the os, and it looks as if someone swap disks on my absence. its configured with raid 0.how do i establish...

Hello,

If you are certain the RAID controller is damaged, replace it and see if the server reconized the os. If after performing this, it is possible that the surge from the power being restored may have damaged your boot files. At that point you will need to perform a system restore.

Good Luck.

In my IBM X226 server 2 HDD became unavailable in RAID 5 configuration. now I have replaced the hard disks and rebuild process is continuing. 1962 operating system not found error message is being shown...

Raid level 5 gives you some redundancy in your raid however it only allows you to lose one hard drive, two hdd lost would not permit to recover from. the parity bit can rebuild one hard drive but not two, sorry your raid might be lost

Ibm x series 226 attempt to install os and says no harddrive

Make sure that the motherboard and/or disk controller recognize the drives during POST.

Then check and see if IBM has a server installation CD-ROM that you can use boot the server and automatically load the correct drivers to prep for the OS install. I have downloaded installation CD ISO files from HP and Dell that walked me right through the OS install.

Another important consideration is that servers frequently use disk controllers that are not included in the operating system's driver files.
For example, when installing Windows OS on a RAID controller you must press F6 immediately after the installation CD-ROM starts up.
Later in the installation you will be prompted to insert a 1.44 diskette with the driver for your RAID controller.

The only challenge is to find the correct version of the driver and get it on a diskette.

I hope this helps.

Raid configuration

When your system boots up you should see an option to access your raid controller if not or if your system doesn't see the controller at all you will have to download the utility software from IBM, but you need to be careful any change you make in the configuration of the disks will delete all data on your drives. This is non-recoverable loss. The utility has help and is fairly easy to understand.
