Try taking the AA batteries out and then turn on again without the batteries.

This may help: If you take off the front of the radio (don't forget 2 screws in back!) you will notice a set of black and red wires running from the 2 AA backup batteries to the digital display circuit board. The wires plug into the board with a little white plug. If you unplug this the display will fade to nothing. If you plug it back in it will display an unset digital clock format. This seems to reset the radio, after which it should work.

Try this if the display seems stuck on the same station: If you take off the front of the radio (don't forget 2 screws in back!) you will notice a set of black and red wires running from the 2 AA backup batteries to the digital display circuit board. I have the same problem, and no real solution, although I do find by hitting one of the keys several times in rapid succession, then pressing the standby button, the radio does tend to come on.
Really irritating, though, and I'd love to know how to fix it for good. Good luck - and do let me know if you find a solution.

Display / Clock display not working

SONY MHC-EX50

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Radio: ST-EX100
Amp: TA-EX50
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Symptome=Tuner-Display zeigt nichts an, sonst Tuner OK.
Defekt=C161 und C162 (100µF,35 V) auf der Tunerplatine ersetzen.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Need an owners manual

to set the 5 main presets:
with radio on, use the manual tuner to find station you want on a preset. push and release mem/clock adj button (mem will flash on display), push preset number and while holding it in push the mem/clock adj button again (mem on display will go away). station is now preset to that number.

to set the 5 additional presets:
with radio on, use the manual tuner to find station you want on a preset. push and release the +5 button (+5 will flash on display), push and release mem/clock adj button (mem will also flash on display), push preset number and while holding it in push the mem/clock adj button again (mem on display will go away). station is now preset to that +5 number.

to set the digital clock display:
with radio off, push and release the mem/clock adj button (clock display will now flash), use the tun up / hr part of manual tuning button to adjust hour and the tun dn / min part to adjust minutes.

Display hard to read

My radio was dropped and parts of the display disappeared, but the display did not break. Unless you have some background in radio repair, DO NOT attempt this repair! If you do, it is at your risk, or the risk of damaging your radio! I disassembled the radio and found the display. There are 2 "rubber strips" that fit next to the LCD. I cleaned and reseated the strips and display about 3 times before getting it right. AGAIN, unless you know what you are doing, and can solder on circuit boards with a proper pencil iron, don't even contemplate it! Let someone who can do it.

Radio not working

Have you tried changing the AA Batteries, sounds simple, but a lot of people forget to try this. When they go flat, they lock the radio out and nothing will work. HHM Dewalt Agent
