Erase all memory

I recently got an emachine 400i3 second hand and would like to somehow wipe out all the previous owners info and start clean on the harddrive. How do I do that. I don't have any manuals or discs.

Thank you.

If you ment that you want a totally clean hard drive and use your own windows, etc (only if you do own a windows/linux, or some OS cd), then just boot off the windows cd, it will offer you to format the whole drive before installing. Format means it will delete everything for you off the disk, so it will be clean of anything of the previous owner. If you still want to do it yourself or whatever, you need to boot the computer into "command shell", that is available from almost all windows cd-s if you boot off the cd, and push F8 non stop, you get a sort of menu, where you can choose: command line.
Once in command line just type
format c:
and hit enter,. It will ask you if you are sure and will also wipe everything off the disk.

If this answers your question plase rate me:) If not, please specify what you are missing and will gladly help further.

There may be a restore partition on the harddrive (you'll have to determine if there is), if so you can use the data on that partition to restore the PC to it's original configuration. Otherwise an Operating System disk would be the best way to format the harddrive and do a clean install.

EMachine T5212 best boot Option. I don't know much about computers and I don't want to erase anything. What option is best to use in the "Boot Option Menu"?

if you have a recovery option you can try that. that option allows you to reload the previously known good start up operating system before you added any new updates. you should have an option to choose a previous date.

No image in monitor

isolate it first. there are 3 steps: step 1: isolate the monitor. use other monitor. if still no display, step 2: replace video card. if still no display, step 3: replace memory module.

Depends what key you are looking for.... Windows Installation? or Tower Serial Number?
And you will not be able to get it, unless someone here like share....
Have a look for a torrent with you required OS and Serial.
Good luck and be careful.
Piracy is illegal, I recommend you NOT to do it.

Eliminate all info on emachine PC

There's an excellent tool I use myself called KillDisk that is free, just download it and copy it to a bootable floppy disk, then use it to entirely wipe your whole hard drive, it just takes a few hours depending on your computer speed and drive size. It can be configured to wipe to Department of Defense security standards (takes longer) or just random 0s and 1s. I highly recommend this software, it's very easy to use and best - free!

Kudos to you for donating your PC, and for being smart enough to wipe the hard drive!

Please be sure to back up important emails and any data first!! :)
