Erase all memory

I recently got an emachine 400i3 second hand and would like to somehow wipe out all the previous owners info and start clean on the harddrive. How do I do that. I don't have any manuals or discs.

Thank you.

If you ment that you want a totally clean hard drive and use your own windows, etc (only if you do own a windows/linux, or some OS cd), then just boot off the windows cd, it will offer you to format the whole drive before installing. Format means it will delete everything for you off the disk, so it will be clean of anything of the previous owner. If you still want to do it yourself or whatever, you need to boot the computer into "command shell", that is available from almost all windows cd-s if you boot off the cd, and push F8 non stop, you get a sort of menu, where you can choose: command line.
Once in command line just type
format c:
and hit enter,. It will ask you if you are sure and will also wipe everything off the disk.

If this answers your question plase rate me:) If not, please specify what you are missing and will gladly help further.

There may be a restore partition on the harddrive (you'll have to determine if there is), if so you can use the data on that partition to restore the PC to it's original configuration. Otherwise an Operating System disk would be the best way to format the harddrive and do a clean install.

Dnt have enough ram to install internet. how do i update my bios so new ram will work on emachines 400i3.

I did a little research on this model, and sadly it may be time to put it to pasture. It uses Win 98 with a 4GB drive. This tells me it just can't handle today's media rich internet. Let alone finding a BIOS upgrade.

No, it only wipes the device memory not the external memory or your sim card card memory.

Need product key for emachine etower 400i3. I

Depends what key you are looking for.... Windows Installation? or Tower Serial Number?
And you will not be able to get it, unless someone here like share....
Have a look for a torrent with you required OS and Serial.
Good luck and be careful.
Piracy is illegal, I recommend you NOT to do it.

The problem has to be with the ram contacts being dirty. Detach your ram and clean the contact leads with an eraser. It should clear the problem.

Bios

Try cleaning the insides of the machine. Remove the cards (video, sound, etc.) and clean the terminals (the interfacing portion) using a soft eraser. Also clean the memory module. Reinsert all cards and memory chips firmly and reboot. Make sure that you remove static electricity in your body by placing your hands on the sides of your CPU.
