I have a Linksys Wireless G Route (WRT54G). Set up my home with 5 Computers. 2 Wireless 3 desktops. At the moment, it's 1:30AM and I am the ONLY person online. I have unplugged & held reset button for over a minute. 5 minutes for unplugg and a little over a min for reset button. I am trying to get into the router to set up the wireless security. That being said I AM plugged directly into the router and able to use both LAN and Internet capabilities. When ever I try to load http://192.168.1.1 I get the login prompt and I enter the login/pass. 401 access not allowed. I've tried User names: (None), Admin, Administrator. Passwords: (None), Admin, Administrator, password, 1234, ect. I have tried all cobminations and with both IE and Firefox... I'm at a complete loss. Is the router broken?

Find ssid number for linksys model wrt54g

SID broadcast allows computers to quickly locate a new network and connect to it. In wireless home networks computers often use only the home network, which makes SSID broadcast unnecessary. Disabling SSID broadcast adds a bit of security to your wireless network, because computers won't be able to see your network's SSID.
Log into the router.
  1. Open your webbrowser and type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar. This is the default IP address of the browser.
  2. Type your login info in the login screen. Default: 'admin' (without quotes) in both fields.
  3. Go to Wireless > Basic Wireless Settings 'wireless
  4. Set SSID broadcast to 'disable'.
  5. Click Save Settings.
On the next page you will set a router password to prevent unwanted visitors from accessing your router setup.

Linksys WRT54G can't connect 3rd wireless computer

log into the WRT54G wireless router and ensure that you do not have it set up for only handing out 4 IP addresses also check the laptop to see if it is set to have a DHCP or static IP address, if it has a static IP and your network is dynamic then this is why it wont connect.

if this resolves your issue and you are happy with the answer please grade me accordingly.

thanks

Home network problem.

In order to resolve this concern just disable or configure your firewall and anti virus to allow the file sharing between those 2 computers and after that ping each computer if its replying but still cannot see the shared documents, do a power cycle turn off everything for 30 seconds and power them back after 30 seconds and that should make everything work....

Don't forget to rate the soluiton FIXYA thank you......
