I have a Kenmore Coldspot model: 106.56546400. The Ice Maker hasn't worked for about a year now. I went through the LED tests via the guide sheet included with the fridge. I removed the ice maker and found that the post that holds the large white gear in place on the motor assembly has broken. Is there an individual part # for this piece, or do I have to buy a whole new motor assembly? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Kenmore Coldspot Ice Maker Gear Broken
Best bet os to order and replace the entire assy, the gear broke due to an over torquing problem that they fix with a kit that ioncludes a new module and a new stripper bar, the labor involved and chance of breakin more parts make the entire assy a more feasable way to go, you can proble find a repacemnt online for undder $75

these have to be in correctly to lock back in and allow the unit to function. Try removing the bin again and be sure there isn't any small pieces of ice trapped anywhere. Also make sure there aren't any broken pieces from the bin. Hope this helps. Good luck.
I have Kenmore Coldspot refreidgerator and am having a problem with water pooling inside the fridge at the bottom underneath the drawers (mostly the left side). Where is the water coming from and it formed a thin ice. Thanks
hi debie normaly the life of these ice maker range from 3 to 4 years then the wtr hardness eats them up and the mold start leaking wtr but if is a fairly new model the you have a faulty wtr vale that is not closing sending wtr all the time to the ice maker repl the ice maker is you see is peeling of the texture inside if it is ok repl the valve
There are as you can imagine many possible causes for you no ice condition. I will give you the most common problem for the year model you have. I hope this helps you.
You will need to remove the ice maker from the freezer compartment to check it. Once it is repaired if the following information does help, and you reinstall the ice maker, it should go through a cycle automatically within an hour of your reinstalling it in the freezer compartment.
Once you have the ice maker out of the freezer compartment you will need to remove the white cover on the end of the ice maker and look at the center of the large white gear. If the part inside the hole in the center of the gear is broken or looks twisted, you will need to replaced the module. The module is the part that has the large white gear and is held in the ice maker by 3 phillips head screws. It only comes as an assembly. You can't get just the little broken piece.
if you remove the icemaker there is a white cover over the head of the icemaker, pull the cover off. youll see a gear in the center. in the middle of that gear there are two plastic tabs that hold it in place one or both of the tabs may be broken cause a bad conection behind the wheel. if tabs are broken you need a icemaker modual (part the gear is attatched to) if not broken you need a watervalve located on the bottom right side behind the freezer
