I have a front loading Duet model GHW9100LW1 Whirlpool Washer. Sludge collects around the metal barrel and also inside the rubber gasket. Hence, the machine stinks like sulfur when it is run. How do we solve the problem?
Take the panel off of the front of your washer below the door and in the middle there is a round removable plastic door like piece. Take it out and clean out all of the junk in behind it. You might find loose change, nails and a variety of other thnigs that have become stuck in there besides mold. This will help with the smell and also the water that sometimes remains in your washer after the cycle is over. You need to do this once/twice year.
The washer has a cleanout cycle refer to your use and care guide and when not in use leave the door slightly open also are you using he detergent

I also have the stinky sludge problem. I have tried to scrub the inside gasket with bleach, vinegar, run on a hot cycle after, nothing helps.
Thinking of replacing the seal. How do you do that?
Also need to swap the side the door opens--I have the kit but no instructions. Thanks
