Question about Nintendo Wii Console

Wii "Error has occured, eject game disc." for one CLEAN game

Well, I've been getting that "error has occured blah blah" screen(sometimes green, sometimes black) occasionally while playing Smash Brothers Brawl for a while now, but it rarely happened and I played it a lot until now, now it won't work at all.

Occasionally it will let me start the game and even see some of the intro screen or navigate through the menus a bit before I get the error. Visibly, the disc is perfectly clean, however when I insert it the wii makes grinding noises, and it doesn't do this with any other disc. I'm guessing I played it too much and it overheated but I don't see how that only affects this one disc. I played the game all day today with absolutely no problems, not even a single hang up or freeze or anything that would indicate a problem. I've contacted Nintendo and a representative of theirs immediately thought it was the disc, but I'm not so sure. I'd have to pay 27 bucks to get it repaired(wonder what they do) but I'm afraid that may not fix it.

Alright, bit of an update, my console is not under warranty and a factory fix will cost 75 bucks, but I'd like to avoid that. It started happening with Mario Galaxy so I knew it was the console, and when I inserted SSBB it would make a grinding noise, but I tried turning the console on its side and inserted the disc.

It was COMPLETELY quiet as if no disc were in there, more quiet than it ever had been before, and the disc worked perfectly. No hang ups or laggy frames or anything like that(and there never have been, just the error message). I'm wondering if this is a permanent or long-term fix, I need to know because I'm taking my wii on a trip soon and I may have time to get it repaired.

Nintendo is AWESOME about warranties. If you keep pushing the subject they will replace your unit free of charge. The drive mechanism is going out. It just so happens you haven't noticed it on any other game, it will happen with other games however.

Put mario cart in and go through until it says error occured eject and turn off etc but it will not turn off

This error occurs if you have a problem with the disc. This normally happens if the wii console cannot read or recognize the game disc and freezing usually occurs after the error. You need to restart the wii console if this happens. Also check the disc for any visible damage and try cleaning if dirt is present. If this happens on all or majority of your games, there could be a problem with your wii's disc drive, but if it only occurs on a specific game then the problem is with the disc itself. Good luck!

Keep getting error has occurred, Eject disc turn of power refer to manual Tried powering down etc but still getting same error this error is not on all games some run fine ie Madagascar Always works...

This could be caused by several things usually the game disc is dirty or scratched. You can use a microfiber cloth(DO NOT USE A PAPER TOWEL!!!) with a little bit of alcohol to clean the disc. Even a fingerprint can cause this. I have dealt with it on my sons Wii probably a hundred times. If the game is scratched you can actually buy repair kits like Disc Dr or Scratch Dr.Right now I am using the Madcatz disc repair. Its avaiable at Gamestop. You might have to run it 10 times but they do work.

After ejecting a disc and putting in another the tv screen displayed an error occurred and we cannot get the power button to shut off to reset it

Do you have any details on what the error was? If it was a 001 read error, or something related, where you often get a green or blue screen, you simply need to FIRST eject the disc by pressing the eject button, then hold the power button down for about 5 seconds and your Wii will shut down.

Do not read any disc

If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc.. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. It also gives information on fixing many Wii Related Problems, so its a kind of Wii Problems Reference Fix Guide.
