You need to install your loptops audio driver or restore it to the point where sound is audible on your loptop. To restore your os or drivers to it's original state, you need to click on ( start ). Then click on ( All Programs ). Then click on ( accessories ).Then click on ( system tools ). Then click on ( system restore ). And the last thing you'll do is to select a recently saved restore point that you think your computer was working properly before it encountered this problem. Have a nice day and i hope this could have a positive outcome.
You will need to manually re-install the sound drivers for your laptop... most of the time the right sound drivers are called 'AC'97 Sound Drivers'. All you need to do is download or aquire a copy and install into your laptop then restart the laptop. If, if that does not solve your problem you will have to do some deeper reseach into your laptop to find out what the Sound card is and what specific software it takes to get sound back on your laptop.
Sounds like you an overcharged capacitor or a short to an integral part of the board. unless you have the expertise or tools to pinpoint where the error has occurred this will be a hard fix. If the board is still under warranty I would advise getting in contact with Asus themselves to see about getting a new board sent your direction.
