Question about InFocus Lamp Projector Lamp for LP650, SP7200 [ SP-LAMP-006

1 Answer

I want to test my infocus lamp to know if it is burnt

I checked it for resistance, and no reading on my VOM. There is absolutely nothing when I turn my infocus sp7200 on.. No light, no fan, no led sign...nothing.. Could it be because the lamp is dead???

Your lamp might be ok, but you power supply is dead. If your not seeing any led lights come on when the power cord is plugged in then your power supply is dead. I can fix this for you for less then it cost to send to infocus or to a repair shop. Ebay Id is Gtitubro

LP540 Projector Lamp Does Not come on> it has an error message; "Lamp didn't Strike". Does that mean the Lamp/Bulb is bad?

Hi,
It's most likely the lamp is bad or the part that starts the lamp called a ballast is bad. The LP540 model has an issue with the ballast burning out. The ballast is a part that starts or strikes the lamp. The only sure way to test is to try starting it with a known good lamp.
You can check for signs of a bad lamp. Think about how long you've had your projector & estimate the total hours on your lamp. If it's over 500 it very well could be the lamp as they fail at any time. Remove the lamp cover door & pull out the lamp to visually inspect it. Look in good light & use a magnifier if available too check for any cracks or chips in the small bulb & look to see if the round part of the small bulb is covered with a lot of white or if it's not round anymore. If it's very white it means it has a lot of hours on it. If there's any loose glass inside (check by turning the lamp cage in different directions) then the lamp is bad. If it's nice & clear or has only a small white spot it's probably a good lamp.
I repair almost all Infocus models if you need a quote.
Thanks & good luck,
Jim

first of all, the infocus lp 790 is an lcd projector, not a dlp. second, the light filter in front of one of the lcd panels is burnt, and unfortunately cannot be purchased separately.

Infocus lamp not firing

more then likely the ballast has gone bad and the lamp is not getting the right voltage to fire. Only other thing you can do is remove the lamp the turn the power on and check the voltage at the connector. This will not check the triggering voltage mine you only the lower operating voltage. But since you have replace the bulb with a known good one I'm betting on the ballast is bad.

Lamp resistance and voltage

1. Projector lamps use customized ballasts that ignite the lamp by charging it with a higher voltage in the ignition phase and then dropping down to a lower running voltage once the circuit is created.

2. Projector lamps CANNOT be tested with an AMP or OHM meter. Projector lamps function by igniting ultra-high pressurized mercury vapor across an ARC tube. At the point where the mercury vapor resides there is no conductive electrical material and therefore testing a projector lamp with an AMP or OHM will not work.

Not mine but a friend's. Found a manual online, read it, fixed it. One must wait a while when pushing those buttons. One must have patience and read the manual before crying "it don't work".

InFocus LP725 light goes out after 10 minutes

The Projector will turn off after so many hours of running the same bulb module. The counter will turn on a replace bulb LED. Installing the new bulb module should reset the counter and turn off the LED.

Check the projector’s lamp to ensure that it is securely connected
in the lamp module. Make sure by removing it and reinserting it.

Check the cables for problems.

When testing, power up in this order. Projector, Computer monitor, Computer.

A minor power surge may cause the lamp to shut off. Turn the
projector off, wait at least 30 seconds, then turn it back on.

I hope these suggestions help
