Blackberry 8800 - Gmail App for 8700 - Access to... (by 2 users)

Has anyone tried downloading the gmail app on the 8800 yet? It seems
to recognize my device as an 8700, but installs properly. However
shortly after my blackberry prompts me with a warning that gmail is
attempting to access phone logs, allow or deny. I select deny and an
unhandled exception is thrown. Here it is.. Uncaught exception:
net.rim.device.api.system.ControlledAccessException. Is there an 8800
version of the app coming out, and why does this application need to
access my phone logs?
