I have a DI-514 router that every time I turn the computer on and off or loose the internet connection I loose the WiFi signal as well and once the cable interrupt is over or the computer booted back up the WiFi signal is still off. I but go to the router and unplug it and wait about 30 seconds and then plug it back in to reset the WiFi signal. This can take a half hour every morning to get up and running and every time internet connection is lost. Is this the problem of the router hardware being defective or what? It seems it should reset itself on coming back on line?
Thanks for reading and give me some thought. Ron Singer
I am having exactly the same problem with my Dlink DI514, I have to unplug it for about a minute or so for it to start sending wireless again. I have not done anything to the firmware or modified it in any way. Just seems to drop the wireless connection and can't get a signal to show on any computers on the network even if I put my laptop next to the antenna. Guess I will check out D-link website see if there is any info on this problem. If not I guess it's an RMA back to the dealer.

I have a Dlink 514 and have no problems whatsoever. I have never turned it off in about a month now. It's connected to Comcast cable thru their Surfboard modem.
As a note, when the tech came out to set up my modem, it was dead right out of the box. He had to get another one.
>> turn it back on which is a real pain.

That's not normal. I would contact D-Link.

The wired desktop computer will get back on the internet pretty quick but what I mean about the wireless is the wireless device shows no signal from the router unless I power it off for 30 seconds or so and then power it back on. The problem is the router is not sending a signal until I power it off and back on. I have the latest firmware downloaded and installed. I only have one computer wired to the router and I only have one wireless device and it does not receive a signal after a start up unless I power it off and turn it back on which is a real pain.

Are you using the latest firmware for the router? What do you mean by losing the WiFi signal? Is it impossible to detect the router or does the connection to the router not allow you to access the network? How do computers wired to the router perform; are these also off-line until the router is reset? You wouldn't happen to be using a Motorola SurfBoard cable modem would you? Some of these seem to have a problem where when they lose the signal, even momentarily, they go into this scanning mode that can take over 20 minutes (I think they try every possible channel sequentially but comcast only uses one). If that's the case, have comcast replace the modem even if it otherwise appears to function properly. Your cable connection should not be experiencing daily interruptions.
