Question about Optoma EP716 Multimedia Projector

Comes on but won't project from laptop

I have used this projector many times and have never had a problem, my program always comes right up and displays with no problem. Today, it's like it's not connecting, it just keeps projecting the little screen that says "searching." Someone gave this projector to me and there is no Owner's Manual. I never needed one because it has always come on. I can't wait for a manual, I have a really important presentation to do tomorrow. Anybody have a clue what I can try?

my laptop was connecting fine with the projector in class in the morning, but by last class, the project would turn on fine, but would not show the image from my computer, it just stayed at the "In Focus" screen. I connected the same projector to a different laptop today and it worked fine. Is it something in my laptop settings? I've tried two different projector cables and two different projects and always the same result.

Plug it into the s-video port and press the combination of buttone for your computer, that assigns a different monitor. Mine is FN + F5, yours could be different.

It is more likely to be a problem with the laptop. If the projector comes on fine then it isn't seeing the signal. Maybe check the cables and outputs. It may be a setting in the diplay properties. Or the video card has failed. Good luck

If you push the button one more time to flip the screen it should read properly, otherwise bounce it off of a mirror and adjust the keystone if it is a permanent mount.

Hi,

Have you try pressing the Fn+F7 key. This will switch between the laptop screen and external screen.

Toshiba LCD projector

always make all connections first !! after that : switch on the laptop, or else no detection of an external monitor/projection device is possible.
Please check also your bios settings, some can be set to force simultaneous display of external screen and lcd of the laptop.
some laptops also require ddc communication between external connected devices.
Try to use a full wired ( except pin 9) VGA cable.
