Do these speakers came with the system? If yes then check your manual from the Acer's website ( www.acer.com)
Also what color ports do you have in the back of the Desktop?
I believe you have a green, a Blue and a pink port, the Green is for outgoing sound, the Blue is for incoming sound, like a tape player recorder or a External CD player to get sound to your PC, and the PIN is the Microphone.

it sounds to me like the wires from the front panel connectors are not connected to the motherboard inside the computer case, open the case up find the front connectors wires inside and find out if there are any connectors on the motherboard to plug them into.
the reason the rear ones work is because they are soldered directly to the motherboard.
Try this, double click on the realtek HD audio icon on the system tray (orange speaker), click the effects tab, check if there's an active sound effect, change the effect to none, this should return the audio back to normal. Otherwise, either there's a problem with the speaker or on-board sound card.
welll.... you can hook multiple speakers up in parallel if you
wish... but it will still be stereo... just through more speakers
You will need an external sound card if you want real
DD5.1 sound. An excellent choice for a laptop is the Audigy 2 ZS video
editor. It's an all-in-one device.. audio in/outs, video in/outs, 5.1
sound, 4 port usb hub, firewire connect and a few more things. The neat part is that it hooks up with one simple usb cable.
First plug the speaker pin in the back panel and then in the front panel of PC . If u receive sound in any Panel.. then, may speaker settings in software is not proper... adjust it from the audio software icon in the task bar.. near the clock.....If not then, the that panel got fault... call local technician Or Re install audio driver & restart!
