You could try the following:

Start with the Clip turned OFF. Slide the power switch down to the HOLD position. Press and HOLD the center button depressed until it is recognized by the PC- give it a few seconds.

The Clip's display will state "connected" with the device now in MSC mode.

You can now repair the File Allocation Table (FAT) using Windows' chkdsk utility.

Open My Computer and find the Clip a listed under "devices with removable storage" as a flash drive. Let's say it displays as E: SANSA CLIP for example. Our assigned drive letter is E:

From the Run box under Start, enter cmd and press Enter. You will get a DOS window.

Enter chkdsk E: /f and press Enter. The /f toggle tells the utility to fix the errors.

After clicking on the Safely Remove icon in the taskbar, or right clicking on the Clip and selecting Eject, unplug the Clip.

Try powering it up again, and see if all is well.

When I turn on I get a message stating FAT is corrupted please connect to pc. I have connected to pc and nothing happens. Please help

You have two Solutions.

Solution 1:

Resetting the player:
1. Slide and hold the Power switch up for approximately 20 seconds.
2. Release the Power switch.
3. To turn the player on, slide the Power switch up then release instantly.

Solution 2:
Updating the Sansa Clip Firmawre:

1. If it's not installed yet, download and install the Sansa Firmware Updater.
2. Connect your Sansa Clip to the computer.

3.1. Assuming there's a new firmware available, the following message will appear on your lower right task bar. Click on the balloon message:

3.2. 3b. OPTIONAL: You can also manually run the SansaUpdater from your programs files. Most likely it will be under All Programs > SanDisk > Sansa Updater > Sansa Updater.

4. Select the Firmware check box.

5. Click Download Now. Firmware downloads and updating starts.

6. Click Finish after the firmware has been downloaded.

7. Disconnect your Sansa Clip from the computer.
8. A "Firmware upgrade in progress" message will appear on the Sansa Clip's display screen. The device will turn itself off after the firmware is updated.

try reseting it there should be a reset button somewhere on the device

hey dude something is lose inside it has no connection to the battery but the actual port that you plug your pc in does ... myn is also like that and iv had it for a year now,,,,

This happens when it falls from a height

there is no need to install it just go to control panel and click on portable media devices

Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged.

change the cable then check , or check in some different system

this should fix it, a tiny software that fixed mine just fine
