Question about Reddy Heater RLP100 Portable Forced Air Propane Heater with Variable Heat Ouput

1 Answer

ReddyHeater shuts off

I have a 65-85-100,000 var. heater. When it heats up the unit can not be touched or bumped. If you drop a hammer within 10 ft of it, it will shut down. It is very sensitive. I checked for loose wires and replaced the regulator and temp probe. It made no change. I took it to a shop and they had it for a week and could not fix it. It has about 50 hrs of run time on it. My guess now is a bad safty valve. Any ideas?

What I have found is if I by-pass the thermal switch it runs fine. This in not the thermocouple. It must heat up and be close to overheat and a little bump sets it off. If it was changed in the shop it could be a bad switch or its limit is to close for this unit. I will order a new thermal switch and find out.

It sounds like whatever triggers the safety shut-off circuit is to sensitive.

I am not certain on this unit, but is the sensor a part of the gas valve?

Yes there is a one degree tolerance, in fact my heater just kicked on and it is set to 67 and the inside temperature reads 67. It is also a Honeywell.

How do I fix my electric heater

  • sounds like the sensor or bulb that tells it to start the blower is defective/ im not familiar with your unit but this seems the most logical answer most furnace will not turn the blower on right away usually 90 seconds after the ignition but will also run longer to exhume any dangerous carbon monoxide. Electricic heaters are different. What type of unit do you have

Repair infrared space heater

It might have a fuse that has been blown internally. This may have happened to protect it from over heating because it was left on too long or something went bad and it got too hot.

Electric Furnace stopped running

You have one of two problems. Either the capacitor for the motor has failed or the motor has failed. I would turn off the power to the unit and see if you can locate the capacitor and remove it. An ac supply or electrical supply house can match up the capacitor. This is relatively inexpensive. Otherwise you will need a new motor.

Household steamer not heating at all

Well, first thing, just hook up service water and turn it on so the water heats up. Leave it long enough for water to get hot. If water doesn't get hot like should, then heating unit is malfunctioning. If it is getting hot after a while, you pull the handle trigger and water comes out, you have to wait long enough for the hot water to get to the head/trigger for it to go into the nozzles. If it was working ok before, and you were waiting for the water to heat, then then it should be working fine. Tell me what is happening if you wait for water to heat and get to the nozzles. I'm right here at my computer and we can get this thing going if the heater unit is good. Regards, Rigger.
