Question about GE Ovens

1 Answer

Bake ignitor Location

I have a GE Profile Spectra XL44 stove with what seems to be a Bad Bake Ignitor...I can get the part but need help figuring out where it's located on the stove to replace it. Wow! So glad I found this! My range/oven is the exact same model: XL44. What's the correct replacement, though? I found 2 part #s: WB13T10045 and WB2X9998, and are there any secrets to replacement? (rookie)

Thanks in advance...

Ok jimmy not as bad as you think you access it through the oven cavity remove all the racks look for two screws on the bottom panel i believe they are at the front remove them then remove the bottom panel next you will see a lame spreader which is an angled plate remove it then you will see the burner bar at the back is the ignighter just match it with the new one

Our XL44 oven does not light. The glow bar seems to be working, but there is no ignition. How does one lift the main cover? is there a release? thank you

The problem beleive it or not is that the bake ignitor is weak ,and it is not drawing the proper amprage to open the gas valve. If you have a amp meter access the wires to the bake ignitor(usually behind the storage drawer) and check for 3.3-3.6 amps when oven is set to bake by clamping the meter around ONE wire wire of ignitor make sure only one wire, either one and not both.
if amp draw less than 3.3-3.6 amps replace bake ignitor. I know it seems improbable that if the ignotor comes on that it could be the problem.Professional appliance technicians who would charge a average of $250.00 to repair your oven, have found when the ignitor comes on yet the oven won't heat that a weak ignitor is the cause 100% of the time

I have a GE True Temp XL44 oven the stove burners work fine but the oven will not light. When I turn it on the oven, I do not smell any gas. What is the problem and how do I fix it?

could be a problem with the ignitor. take the racks out of the oven. remove bottom panel in oven. remove metal plate covering the flame spreader. the ignitor should now be visible. turn the oven on. the ignitor should begin to glow. if it doesn't glow bright white, or bright glow, ignitor is bad and needs to be changed.

GE XL44 Gas Stove and Oven. Everything works normal except the oven which stopped working suddenly (no flame). Couldn't find the manual to check troubleshooting guide.

The oven uses a silicone carbide ignitor which requires 3.6 amps or better to open the gas safety valve.
If you don't see any glow from it then it is either blown or the gas valve has gone bad. If it is glowing but not real bright it probably is weak.

did this problem start when you replaced the ignitor? did you use the right ignitor? was it an exact replacement? did you mount it back in the correct position?

it almost sounds like the ignitor is too far away from the burner????

Oven will not ignite, it is approx. 8 yrs old. 2 years ago the ignitor was changed for a similar problem. Everything works on stove even the broiler. Very dissapointed in the GE profile since I have had...

Jim your ignitor has gone bad once again.
You can turn off the gas supply, remove the oven racks, remove the oven base pan, remove the flame spreader to access the ignitor.
Place a clamp on amp meter over one wire of the ignitor and turn the control on for bake. If the ignitor does not glow at all. It is bad. If it glows and reads 3 amps or less on the amp meter it is still bad.
A proper functioning ignitor will light and re-light the burner in 45 seconds or less.

Ge xl44 oven not igniting but burners ignite

The most common failure for a nobake on this type of oven is the bake ignitor. turn unit on and look at the bottom of the oven, you should after about 30-45 seconds see an ORANGE glow, if you do not, chances are you have a failed ignitor.Remove lower part of oven and if you have a meter, place one lead on each terminal and check for continuity( a closed circuit)
If you have an "open" circuit, the ignitor is bad

CHECK THE IGNITOR, IT SHOULD BE GLOWING ORANGE BEFORE GAS IGNITES. IF NO GLOW, REPLACE IGNITOR.
