The wife spilled coffee on the keyboard of her laptop.

She tried to clean it up, and when she restarted it, the mouse would not work.

Well this is a common thing but most likely the motherboard was shorted out and causing glitching. I would take it to a tech to see if there is anything recoverable in there

My wife spilled coffee on her laptop. How can I clean the contacts in the keyboard

Try rubbing alchohal first. If they are too bad you will need to disasemble or replace the keyboard. The keys do come off on a laptop keyboard. But they are an absolute pain to get back together. You will most likely break some of the retainers along the way. I suggest purchasing a replacement keyboard.

How do I disable the laptop keyboard to use external keyboard

Since coffee was spilled on the laptop keyboard it needs to be removed because they hold a lot of moisture that continue to seep on the motherboard and eventually cause more problems, should correct the typing issue.

Spill water on my macbook air, and does not turn on

gone with the wind....or shall i say....water....
dump it in the trash bin....
all liquids are enemy of any IC equipments.....
(many have this dirty habbit of drinking Tea/Coffee/Beer etc while working with their notebooks/laptops.....)
on PC..... the liquids normaly spill on to the keyboard/mouse which is seperate from the CPU...
can replace the keyboard of a PC with just few $$$
but with notebooks the main circuit/motherboard is just below the keyboard.....
once a liquid falls...it just goes thru the holes on the keyboard....and short circuits the ICs...chips...etc

I spilled coffee on my laptop and now the mouse does not work and I am at a loss on what to do I am not sure if I have completely wrecked the mouse by doing this or not :(

Im afraid it sounds like the touchpad mouse would need replacing. You can find the part quite cheaply on Ebay, but the fitting is complicated and costly to have an engineer do. If you can, use an external USB mouse until you can have it repaired.

How to clean spill out of keyboard on hp pavilion dv7 1245dx

Best thing to do is to take the keyboard out of the laptop. There is usually a top cover above the keyboard that needs to come off. Then there is some screws holding in the keyboard, unscrew those and then unhook the ribbon part of the keyboard off of the motherboard.

Then at that point take a paper towel or washcloth with glass cleaner and clean all around where the spillage is.

Also clean off the keyboard is well and let it sit for a day so it can dry out.

Then put the keyboard back and see if the keyboard is working properly, if not then you'll need to replace it.

Another keyboard will not work

laptop keyboards also go. Has anything been spilled on it that you know of ?

Try plugging in a USB keyboard and see if the problem goes away. If so, you need to just get a new keyboard for the laptop.

I alreay had to change mine when I spilled VERY little coffee on it.

Why did you disable any drivers? Simply plugging in a USB keyboard would allow it to work. I fear that when you spilled your coffee you did more harm than just a 'sticky' keyboard.
