I have a master heater b150b 150,000 btu kerosene heater motor and fan blowing and i can see tho igniter lighting but it seems like no fuel been sitting awhile it will not light

jason2713,

Provided that you know the unit has sufficient fuel and there is no dirt or water in the fuel you have a classic All Pro, Reddy Heat, Master Heater, etc problem. They are all made by DESA International and similar in operation. They control fuel pressure by bleed air. As the air filter plugs up the pressure changes and that is why your unit runs with the top off. You allow more air to flow. You need to replace the air filter and set the pump pressure. I have a tip at

http://www.fixya.com/support/r4124129-yearly_maintenance_reddy_heaters

which is written for Reddy Heaters but as I said before they are all the same. It tells you how to complete the repair and where to get the parts.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

Location of the Serial Number ?

It's usually on the label on the cover between the top tube and the fuel tank. It also has other heater info on the label including the model # and air pressure.

Where are the filters on a Handy master forced air heater- our smells very bad

Pretty much every kerosene heater I've seen has the filters in the same place. You have to take the cover off, then locate the pump at the back of the motor. Take 2 or 4 screws out of the pump to remove the pump cover, and you'll see the filters in there.

There are some kind of generic directions here: http://www.desatech.com/techDocs/Kerosene%20Heater%20Filter%20Replacement.pdf

I'm sure they apply to your heater too.

Be careful putting it back together, it's reeeeally easy to crack the plastic pump by overtightening the screws, and it will never work right again if you do.

Master 250,000 btu heater. Not pumping kero to the igniter port. Possibly lost its prime at the filter? Gasket at the filter assy. is curled, not flat. Filter assy is tight but no fuel coming out of...

First check the fuel filter. Remove the small panel on the left if you are standing behind the heater. Next check the fuel nozzle, it may be clogged. If you hold it up to a light, you should be able to see light through it. If these 2 things are good, you need to check the air pressure. On the back of the fan motor there is a black box with 2 ports. One for adjusting the air pressure, one for connecting a pressure guage. The pressure should be 5.1 #. You can adjust the pressure by turning the plug with the small hole in it in or out to raise or lower pressure. If this doesn't get you going let me know and I will give you a couple of other things to check and if it does please rate my answer and give a testimonial if you will.

Were is the fuel filter? on my 150,000 fuel buner heater

I believe the fuel filter is located on the fuel pick up line inside the fuel tank. They can be a bit tough to get ahold of but what I have done is to make a hook out of stiff wire or a cut up clothes hanger and bend a small hook on the end. Most filters can be removed and cleaned. However it's better if you replace them once a year. I hope this helps you. Thanks

My heater model is B150EKD, one of the older models. I burn diesel in heater, for the past while the smoke has become unreal, were do i find filter on this model ? any tips on how to prevent this

Unable to find a manual on B150EKD so I must assume the heater is a spark plug type rather than the type with a control board. The smoking heater pretty much rules out the computerized type simply because it won't run with unclean air coming out.

The fuel filter will be on the fuel line. Sometimes they look like a lawnmower filter and can be seen, but on the older heaters the filter is actually in-the-line-in-the-tank and is not visible without some dis-assembly.

If you find that the filter is not restricted, then read these tips .

Need a fuel filter for a Gilson Bros tropedo

Try Master Parts, ( 800.446.1446 or www.masterparts.net) they carry All Pro heater parts. If you have the model number of your unit you can also get the part number for the fuel filter at www.desatech.com and click on "Construction Heaters." I hope this helps!

How do i get an owners manual for a Handy Master kerosene heater (HM19)?

I get about 90% of my manuals from the manufacturers web site. Give that a try. You may have to do a bit of research, I do not recognize the Handy Master brand, it may be a relabel from another manufacturer.
Good Luck

Master 115,000 will not stay running

It sounds as if your are having a fuel delivery issue. Always start troubleshooting fuel delivery problems with a pump pressure test. Air pump pressure is extremely critical on these computerized heaters. Instructions are at www.reddyparts,.com
