Question about Dell 926 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Computer does not recognize printer #926

Have spent the equivalent of a whole day (over two weeks) on the phone with Dell in FL and in India. We have re-installed drivers and UBS ports. Dell then thought it might be the cable, so I bought a new one. Didn't fix. Dell then thought it was the UBS socket on the printer and that I should get a new printer. Bought a slightly a used #926 printer, used the new cable and that didn't work. Now they think it might be the operating system or the motherboard, which will erase everything on my computer. This has been going on for two weeks. The computer is an E1705 Inspiron.

    this printer used to work fine on all my computers including my inspiron 1501, running vista premium business. now, it will copy and scan to paper but I cannot print from any computer. The error message says it is not connected and gives all the usual advice- check cables, reboot, etc.

    I am out of warranty and will not pay them to tell me to buy a new printer.

1 check if the driver is install
remove the connection usb and reinstall the driver from the cd came along it and then connect the usb cable when prompted and the it shoul be ok.

Deleted the whole Dell photo aio 926 program in error. Try to run the orig cd that came with printer but it won't run. How can I get it back? Went to search and came up with 'google icon' and 'folder' but...

Try reinstalling the printer using the instructions located at....

You'll need to disconnect the printer. Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer.

Install the proper drivers. You'll get the message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time.

Won't scan - scanned two weeks ago

try reinstalling the complete printer driver, if the problem were still there may be the scanner flat cable damaged.

The first, your computer have to detect(see the printer when plugging) printer. Try to change USB cable or plug other USB computer socket.The last one,change computer power supply.

Dell 926 won't recognize new color cartridge

Try this...shut down the printer. Insert new cartridge, let the printer cycle out with new cartridge. then reboot the computer. This should solve the problem. The cache in the printer will not cycle out. It wants to see the printer as a new entity

Power off the printer and disconnect the USB (Parallel ?) cable from the printer to the PC. Reconnect the cable. Restart your PC.

If that doesn't work ... go to Start - Printers and Faxes and delete the Dell Photo 926 icon. Then, power off the printer and disconnect the cable from the PC. Power on the PC and log in. Reconnect the cable and see if the printer is found. If so, install the Photo 926 printer driver. If the printer is not found, you have a printer cable or printer hardware problem. Good luck.

Communication Error DELL 926 AIO Printer

Found on another forum. For 926 this worked great.
1. Go to Control Panel - Printers : Delete 926 printer
2. Go to Control Panel - Programs and Features : Uninstall All Dell 926 related software. There should be 3 programs. (When prompted to restart, respond to wait.
3. Rename Folder C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\DRIVERS\W32x86 to W32X86OLD
4. Now restart your computer
5. Reinstall 926 Software.
This worked terrific for me.

Communication Errors with DELL AIO 926

Well just try another cable for the connection between the printer & the computer... your can also check print spooler service under the services of the system....
