Question about Toshiba 2405-S221 Notebook

1 Answer

I can't get my Toshiba 2405-S221 laptop to start.

The leftmost light on the front is blinking yellow which I've never seen before. I've tried pushing the start button and holding down control-alt-delete but there's no response.

Toshiba Satellite 2405-S221.

Unplug the powercord and try to move around the DC-Jack with a small flatheat screwdriver. If the jack moves around freely or the middle pin has too much slack you most likely have a defective DC-Jack. You can replace it yourself there are guides online that show you how to do this. The repair takes about 2-3 hours. I work for a company called Laptop Repair NYC and we do this repair frequently.

You may want to go to the "Device Manager" or Sound Devices, find trouble shoot...or some other tab...roll back driver, it may be a bad version of your sound driver

I have a Satellite 2405-S221 and I was wondering if the max memory i can install is 512K, is there a way to update the bios, or ANYTHING to increase that amount to at least 1 gig??

Toshiba Satellite 2405-S221 Laptop takes the PC2100 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs Memory Type, and comes installed with 256 MB (removable) of Memory. You can upgrade your Toshiba Satellite 2405-S221 Laptop to up to a maximum of 512 MB Memory, the system has 2 sockets to install Memory, already with 256 MB (removable) standard Memory installed.

In short.... yeah, 512k is the max.

Doesn't appear to a bios limitation. It is a hardware issue that is limiting the amount.

Forget password

you will need to clear the BIOS password by:

On the computer motherboard locate the BIOS clear / password jumper or dipswitch and change its position. Once this jumper has been changed, turn on the computer and the password should be cleared. Once cleared, turn the computer off and return the jumper or dipswitch to its original position.

on a laptop computer the location of the dipswitch (almost never a jumper) can be under the keyboard or on the bottom of the laptop in a compartment such as the memory compartment.

Alternatively you can locate the CMOS battery on the motherboard a remove it for at least 10mins allowing the computer to lose all of its information but please not that this does not work on all computers
